What kind of event is this? Every year, a Halloween event runs in Pokémon GO. Trainers speculated for a long time about what it would look like this time. Now, the details for the first part of the Halloween event 2022 are available. This year, the festival will again take place in two parts.

When does the event run? Part 1 of the Halloween event 2022 in Pokémon GO starts on Thursday, October 20, at 10:00 AM local time. It will last until Thursday, October 27, at 10:00 AM local time. Part 2 will follow, for which there are currently no details available.
Limited Research
What is known: For the Halloween event, you can purchase up to two Limited Research tasks. The research tasks are optional. It is important that you complete them by Tuesday, November 1, and collect your rewards.
There will be two tickets for the research tasks.
- Ticket 1 costs about €1 and rewards you with Makabaja and Galar-Makabaja upon completion
- Ticket 2 costs about €5 and provides an increased candy bonus, additional Halloween tasks, and an avatar pose upon completion
- The tickets can be gifted to friends with at least “Super Friends” status
- It is possible to purchase only one of the two tickets or to combine both tickets. The research tasks are optional.
Special Research for Halloween 2022
What is known? The special research is free for event participants. It revolves around helping Professor Willow and Rhi learn more about Makabaja and Galar-Makabaja.
New Shiny: Through the research, you will be able to find Shiny Galar-Makabaja in Pokémon GO for the first time.
When does the research run? You can collect it between Thursday (October 20 at 10:00 AM) and Tuesday (November 1 at 10:00 AM).
Candy Bonuses for Halloween 2022
What bonuses are there? The candy bonuses from Part 1 of the Halloween event are as follows:
- You will receive double catch candy
- You will get double candy for sending Pokémon
- Hatching Pokémon will reward you with double candy
- From Trainer Level 31, you will receive guaranteed XL candy walking with your buddy
Mega Pokémon for Halloween 2022
Which Pokémon is coming? Niantic confirms Mega-Banette for Halloween. With luck, you may even encounter shiny variants.
Eggs, Spawns, and Raids for the Halloween Event 2022
Eggs: From the 7 km eggs that you hatch during the event, the following Pokémon can hatch (Pokémon marked with * can be encountered as shiny):

According to Niantic, you will have the chance to encounter shiny eF-eM in Pokémon GO for the first time. The chances for Shinys are also said to be increased.

Field Research during the Halloween Event 2022
Rewards: Field research that you pick up for the Halloween event can reward you with the following Pokémon upon completion:

Additionally, selected research tasks reward you with Mega Energy for Gengar and Absol.
Decoration and Music for the Halloween Event 2022
Music: As you have known from past spooky events in the game, this time you will also be accompanied by Lavandia music. You can get an impression of it here on YouTube:
Decoration: The stops and gyms receive a colorful decoration. Data miners have already discovered how the map is expected to look like for Halloween.
Attack for Giratina for Halloween 2022
What attack is there? Giratina in its Altered Form can learn Shadow Force. The attack is of Ghost type and deals 120 damage in Trainer battles and 140 damage in raids and gyms.
In order for Giratina to learn the attack, you must catch it between October 20 at 10:00 AM and November 1 at 10:00 AM.
Avatar Items for Halloween 2022
What items are there? A “spooky pose” awaits you, where the avatars will walk like mummies.
In the shop, you can purchase new avatar items. These include
- The Zwirrklop hat
- The Zwirrklop full-body costume
- The Zubat hair accessory
