In Pokémon GO there could soon be bigger celebrations for Earth Day. This will only happen if players come together to clean up the Earth.
What are these celebrations? In 2018, Niantic held an event in Pokémon GO for Earth Day. There will be a similar event this year, for which certain requirements must be met.
Players must come together to clean up the Earth, and only after a certain number of players help, special bonuses will be unlocked. This includes a new Shiny and the return of Groudon as a Raid Boss.
What’s happening on Earth Day 2019
The condition for the bonuses: This event will only take place if players have achieved something in advance. You must register on the Niantic’s website and help clean up the environment.
Worldwide, at least 2000 players must register for the first bonuses to be unlocked. The more players participate, the more bonuses there are:
- 2000 players or more register
- Reward: Ground Pokémon appear more frequently in the wild
- 5000 players or more register
- Reward: More Ground Pokémon + Shiny Diglett is added to the game
- 7000 players or more register
- Reward: More Ground Pokémon + Shiny Diglett + Groudon as a Raid Boss + double Stardust and candies for the event spawns
So what’s new? If at least 5000 players participate in the challenge, then for the first time, the shiny form of Diglett will be available.
What’s interesting about Ground Pokémon: In Germany, Ground Pokémon are quite rare in the wild. Therefore, thanks to the event, you will have better chances of encountering Shiny Sandshrew or Shiny Geodude, as they are Ground types.
When does the event start? The Earth Day is on April 22. Niantic schedules its event from April 13 to April 28.
Can the requirements be met easily? 7000 players to collect trash is certainly a large number. However, there should be enough volunteers to achieve this goal. If you would like to help, you can also get involved with your community.
This is how it went in 2018: Last year, you were also supposed to clean up trash together. Niantic reported on their website about the numerous actions around the world.
Have you already attempted this level-4 raid?
