The shop in Pokémon GO is currently offering the new Cosmog research for 5.99 euros. But be careful: you can also get it for free.
What kind of research is this? If you click on the shop in Pokémon GO, you will find the research Starry Sky
, which comes into the game for the event Day and Night
. It costs 5.99 euros and, besides some rewards, it also gives you the Pokémon Cosmog.
Why shouldn’t I necessarily buy it? Aside from the fundamental question of whether one wants to spend money on researches in the game: This research can also be obtained for free once the event starts at 10:00 on June 16 – at least if you are level 5 or higher.
It will be available in the research section of the game from the start of the event, even without a ticket. Pokémon GO announced this on its own blog (via pokemongolive.com).
Why should I buy it at all? The ticket in the shop only offers you the opportunity to play through the entire research again. So you will receive all the rewards of the steps again, plus another Cosmog reward on top. However, you will have to do all the tasks again.
All rewards and tasks of the research Starry Sky
can be found here.
A purchase may be worthwhile, for example, if you want to get more Cosmog candies, or if you feel that your Cosmog at the end of the free research is not strong enough. But generally speaking, it is not necessary to buy the research in the shop if you only want to play through it once.
What kind of Pokémon is in the research?
If you want to know if more Cosmog candies are worth it, here is a brief summary. The monster was introduced last year as part of the research ‘A Cosmic Companion’, but you only received one specimen there. Since then, Cosmog has not been available anymore. Those who missed it back then could not catch Cosmog.
The research also gave you candies for the evolution of Cosmog: Cosmovum and ultimately Lunala and Solgaleo. You could also only evolve one of them. Therefore, the Cosmog from the new research could be used for the other form.
Cosmog is not particularly strong, and its evolution Cosmovum is not very useful either. However, Lunala and Solgaleo are quite strong and can take a lot of damage, making them interesting for raids. You can find a detailed assessment of the Cosmog evolutions here.
