With the start of the crossover event, the spawns in the wild have changed. And you may also encounter Ditto there with a bit of luck. According to current reports from Niantic, Ditto is now also hiding behind the following Pokémon (via pokemongolive.com):
- Wurmple
- Camaub
- Bidiza
So if you are still looking for a Ditto, you should definitely catch these monsters. Whether there is a Ditto hiding behind them can only be seen after you have successfully caught the Pokémon.
Is there a Shiny Ditto? Yes, with a bit of luck, you may also encounter a shiny Ditto. You can recognize it by its blue body.
Unlike other Shinies, you will also only see the shiny specimen after you have caught it. For example, you will initially see a normal Wurmple, which may change into a Shiny Ditto after being caught with a bit of luck.
Can a Shiny Wurmple be a Ditto? If a shiny Pokémon is shown immediately upon clicking, you can be sure that there is no Ditto hiding behind it. You will thus keep the Shiny.
