Which Pokémon is it about? On October 5th, the Evolution Event “Evolution Stars” started. On this occasion, you should be able to secure Cosmovum in the game for the first time by performing an evolution of Cosmog.
Niantic had heavily promoted the new legendary Pokémon in their event announcement on September 28, 2022. However, reports are piling up that there are issues. We took a look at what exactly is going on.

Cosmog evolution is problematic – Not working?
After the evolution event has been running for some time in the first time zones, the first images of Cosmog’s evolution could already be found on social networks. The event is now also running here with us, and some trainers want to evolve their Cosmog into a Cosmovum as well.
The evolution is part of the special research “A Cosmic Buddy”. But then the unpleasant surprise: it simply doesn’t work. Reports are growing from trainers that they have no option to evolve in the game – the button is missing.
So says reddit user melagnahopz, who writes the following in his current post (via reddit.com): “I just got the next special research task to evolve Cosmog, but there is no option to evolve. Am I overlooking something?”
This is the solution to the evolution problem
Why this error occurs in the game and why some trainers do not have a button to evolve is not yet known. What you can do, we have summarized for you below.
Update October 5th, 1:00 PM: Many players are reporting on social networks that restarting the game brings the evolution button. We have also tried it further for you. For us, it finally worked with a restart of the smartphone.
Important! However, it is necessary that you have completed and redeemed the special research “A Cosmic Buddy” up to and including chapter 4. It is only from chapter 5 that you will receive the option to evolve. So if you are already up to date with the special research and still cannot evolve Cosmog, you should restart your device.

Update October 6th: Even though some players are eagerly awaiting the last two evolutions of Cosmog, unfortunately, you will have to wait a while longer. Niantic has only unlocked the evolution of Cosmog to Cosmovum with the start of the evolution event.
