In Pokémon GO there will be no Spotlight Hour and Bonus Hour this week. Niantic announced this. We will tell you what might be behind it.
This was supposed to happen: For the past 3 weeks, the Spotlight Hour occurred every Tuesday and the Bonus Hour every Thursday.
Both events have now been canceled for this week, specifically for February 25 and February 27. Niantic did not provide any reasons for this.
What could be behind the cancellation?
Niantic said this about these events: At the beginning of February, Niantic announced these two event series and stated that they are in the testing phase. They want to hear feedback from players and adjust the events accordingly.
What does this have to do with today’s cancellation? It is quite conceivable that Niantic is planning some major changes to the events and won’t be able to pull it off in one week. Therefore, they would have to cancel the events to ensure everything runs well next week.
Niantic has already made many adjustments to the Spotlight Hour. After complaints about
the rather low spawns in the first week, it was
significantly better in the second week. In week 3, they did not focus on one Pokémon,
but rather all and increased the spawns again. This was well received by the trainers.
The Bonus Hour, on the other hand, has always been met with skepticism. The Stardust bonus was nice enough, but simply too little, and
the double raid XP was pretty useless for many trainers.
Are big changes on the way? Particularly the Bonus Hour has been criticized. It is quite conceivable that Niantic will make adjustments there again. This will be revealed next week, as the events are expected to take place again then.
Is there something entirely different behind it? Another speculation is also plausible: Tonight at 10 PM, the event regarding Pokémon Day starts. So it could also be that Niantic does not want to combine these events. This would at least be the case for the Bonus Hour on Thursday.
The event ends next Monday. Next Tuesday, the Spotlight Hour could therefore take place again without any overlaps.
A really strong raid boss could also come soon:
