Pokémon GO brings huge crowds to the streets, but as their attention often leaves much to be desired, it leads to frequent hazards. Therefore, the mayor of Düsseldorf has now decided to close a particularly popular bridge for car traffic, allowing Pokémon players to hunt safely.
Pokémon GO is the ideal way to lure even the laziest couch potato out onto the streets. However, while hunting for Pokémon, players quickly lose focus, and many have only their smartphone and the little monsters appearing on it in sight. As a result, there are increasing cases of more or less serious hazards posed by road traffic. In the embedded video from the YouTube channel Chaipatlom, you can see the situation on the bridge.

A particularly busy spot for Pokémon players is the Girardet Bridge in Düsseldorf. The bridge crosses the Kö, and since it hosts particularly lucrative hunting grounds, dozens of players continuously roam there. To prevent them from constantly disrupting traffic, the mayor of Düsseldorf has easily closed the bridge. But not for the players, rather for car traffic.
So if many players are on the bridge, the public order office has been instructed to seal off everything for traffic. In addition, portable toilets and several trash bins have been set up to prevent players from trashing the entire area.

Also cool: Some employees of “Rheinbahn” who are enthusiastic about Pokémon GO are currently planning to establish a special train line that passes by the coolest hunting grounds in the city. However, the organizers are still scouting to determine which route is best suited for this.
Mein-MMO says: I am a huge fan of Pokémon GO myself and even though I always end up in areas where I don’t find much, I gladly seize every opportunity for a hunt. And I find it very nice that the city of Düsseldorf is responding to the needs of the players instead of continually clearing the bridge. But what do you think?
