In Pokémon GO you can catch Shiny Celebi and other shiny Pokémon in December. Jessie and James return to guide you through a research task. What is happening?
How to get Shiny Celebi? The mysterious Pokémon Celebi could already be caught in Pokémon GO, but its Shiny form has not been available yet. In December, Pokémon GO celebrates the premiere of the new movie: “Pokémon – The Movie: Secrets of the Jungle”
As part of this premiere, a new special research task awaits you, which offers an encounter with Shiny Celebi upon successful completion. Additionally, more content will be available, including a new Research Pikachu and Shiny Geronimatz.
Pokémon GO – Movie Celebration in December – What is happening?
During this celebration, you can expect four smaller events. Three of them will start simultaneously. It begins on December 14. That is just one day after the big Community Day event in December.
Events starting December 14
When? Starting Monday, December 14, three events will kick off.
First Event: A limited-time special research with Jessie and James starts. This is inspired by the movie “Pokémon – The Movie: Secrets of the Jungle” and rewards you with Shiny Celebi at the end.
The special part is that this time Jessie and James will guide you through the research.
Jessie and James will also return in the Meowth balloon and have a different shadow Pokémon than during their last visits.
In the style shop, there will be free avatar items available. It is unclear when this event will end.
Second Event: Research Pikachu will be available from December 14 to December 21 in Pokémon GO. You will encounter it in raids and in the wild, with a chance for a Shiny encounter.
During the spotlight hour on December 15, you will frequently encounter Research Pikachu. Additionally, there will be double candies for catching Pokémon.
Third Event: Changed spawns from December 14 to December 17 at 10:00 PM.
In the wild of Pokémon GO, the spawns will change to match the mentioned movie. You will encounter:
- Wild: Hoothoot, Blanas, Rotomurf, and Waumboll. Fermicula will appear less frequently.
- Raids: Schlurp, Flunkifer, Libelldra, Geronimatz, and others.
- 5km Eggs: Fluffeluff, Kussilla, Elekid, Magby, Mobai, and Geronimatz.
- Shiny: With luck, you may encounter Shiny Geronimatz.
On December 25
When? On December 25 from 08:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
What? During this time, Jessie and James will appear more frequently with their Meowth balloon.
It is still unclear whether they will be accompanied by additional bonuses or special Pokémon.
