In May, two new legendary Pokémon will appear in Pokémon GO: Xerneas and Yveltal. We will tell you how strong the new Pokémon are and whether Raiding is worth it.
When will the new Pokémon appear? The legendary Pokémon will appear one after the other in May. The exact dates are:
- May 4 to May 18: Legendary Raids with Xerneas
- May 18 to May 31: Legendary Raids with Yveltal
You can hunt for the new legendary Pokémon for almost the entire month of May. Now the only question left is whether the Raid Passes are worth it. We’ll tell you.
Xerneas in Pokémon GO – This is what the new Pokémon can do
These are the stats: Here we show you the stats and attacks in overview, so you first get a rough idea:
- Type: Fairy
- Attack value: 250
- Defense value: 185
- HP value: 246
- Fast Attacks: Zen Headbutt (Psychic), Tackle (Normal)
- Charged Attacks: Moonblast (Fairy), Focus Blast (Fighting), Thunder (Electric), Bug Bite (Bug), Hyper Beam (Normal)
This is how strong Xerneas will be in comparison: Among Fairy Pokémon, there is no creature with a higher attack value. Generally, the prerequisites are good, but the problem lies with the attacks. Xerneas currently does not learn any Fairy-type fast attack and therefore cannot really be used as a Fairy attacker. Compared to other Fairy Pokémon that also know a fast attack of that type, Xerneas is at a disadvantage.
Is Raiding worth it? That remains to be seen. Recently, Niantic has always added new attacks for legendary Pokémon shortly before the release. If Xerneas can learn a Fairy fast attack, then it would be worth it. Without this attack, Xerneas is currently rather useless and only important for the PokéDex entry.
Yveltal in Pokémon GO – This is what the new Pokémon can do
These are the stats: Here too, we first provide an overview of the stats and attacks of Yveltal:
- Type: Dark and Flying
- Attack value: 250
- Defense value: 185
- HP value: 246
- Fast Attacks: Sucker Punch (Dark), Wing Attack (Flying)
- Charged Attacks: Psyshock (Psychic), Focus Blast (Fighting), Hyper Beam (Normal), Dark Pulse (Dark), Hurricane (Flying)
This is how strong Yveltal will be in comparison: Among Dark attackers, Yveltal faces strong competition. The Pokémon learns strong attacks and has solid attack values, but others like Darkrai are simply better. Compared to other Dark attackers, Yveltal is more of an alternative.
The situation is similar with flying attackers. Here, Yveltal scores with solid attacks, but competitors like Rayquaza or Lugia simply have better stats.
Is Raiding worth it? If you don’t have a strong team of Dark or Flying types yet, you should secure Yveltal. It is definitely not bad, but there are better alternatives. If you already have strong Darkrai in your team, then the PokéDex entry here is enough.
