In Pokémon GO there will be an Unova event in January. Niantic has announced appropriate bonuses and Shiny Serpifeu. Here’s the overview.
When does the event take place? The event starts on January 5 at 10:00 AM and runs until January 10 at 8:00 PM local time. You have 5 days to take advantage of the bonuses.
During this time, everything revolves around the Unova region, which is the 5th generation. This is meant to shorten the wait until the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto, which takes place in February.

These are the bonuses: We list all the bonuses you can take advantage of during the event:
- Serpifeu, Floink, Ottaro, Yorkleff, Terribark, Elezeba, Kiesling, Rotomurf, Zurrokex, Schallquap, Toxiped, Unratütox, Mollimorba, Monozyto, and Kastadur will appear more frequently in the wild
- Shiny Serpifeu will make its debut as a Shiny in the game
- There will be special quests that will reward you with Pokémon like Serpifeu, Floink, Ottaro, and Kastadur
- From 5 km eggs, the following Pokémon will hatch: Kiesling, Strawickl, Lilminip, Emolga, Laukaps, Schnuthelm, Wattzapf, and Pygraulon
- Genesect with the Flame Module will be available in Level 5 raids during this time
- The Collector Challenge will be tested for the first time – this is a feature in the Today view, with more information to come later
These are the Shinies: Shiny Serpifeu has been announced. This is interesting because previously, every Shiny of the starter Pokémon was introduced through a Community Day. It seems that Serpifeu is different.
In January, the Community Day is focused on Machollo. This means that Shiny Serpifeu will not be introduced there.
Niantic has also announced Kastadur. This Pokémon has already been available as Shiny, but it was previously only obtainable in other countries through an event as Shiny. Now, German players also have a good chance to get it.
This is how it will continue: After the Unova event, there will be an event focused on the Sinnoh region. There is currently no information about this, but the event is expected to run from January 12 to January 17 and will focus on Pokémon from the 4th generation.
In January, there is even more waiting for you. Here is the overview:
