In Pokémon GO there will soon be a new raid boss. Niantic announces the Incarnate Form of Thundurus as a successor to Landorus.
When is Thundurus coming? The legendary Pokémon will appear starting March 31 at 10:00 PM CEST in the arenas. In Germany, it will be available from April 1 because there are no more raids that late.
It will be available for most of April and will disappear on April 21 at 10:00 PM.
Thundurus in Pokémon GO – Is it worth it?
For months there hasn’t been a truly worthwhile raid boss to fight. This raises hopes that Thundurus will finally be strong.
How strong will the boss be? To find out, we look at the stats of the legendary Pokémon:
- Attack value: 261
- Defense value: 182
- HP value: 205
- Maximum CP: 3588
In terms of moves, it has the best ground move in the game with Earth Power and learns the ground-type quick move Mud Shot, which is suitable for a strong attacker. Thus, Thundurus benefits from a double ground moveset.
The stats and moves are thus in favor of Thundurus. Its attack value is almost as good as Groudon’s (270), and it has better moves. This allows it to outshine any ground attacker in the game and become the best Pokémon of this type.
Here lies the downside: The Incarnate Form is quite good, but the Therian Form of Thundurus is even better. So you can fully rely on this form in April, but in the near future, there will be an even better ground Pokémon.
You should weigh whether to invest the numerous Thundurus candies into the Incarnate Form or save them for the Therian Form.
If you have a Thundurus with 100% IV, it is worth leveling up anyway.
What ways can you get Thundurus? The legendary Pokémon is not only available in raids but also in the PvP League. If you achieve 4 victories in the regular way or 2 victories with the premium pass, you could encounter Thundurus starting March 31 at 10:00 PM. However, there is no guarantee.
Raids are still available, but they are not recommended. Due to the coronavirus crisis, you are encouraged to stay indoors.
