What’s new? Niantic has now announced that the next big event starts on May 3rd. As a big surprise, the first legendary Mega Pokémon will come to the game with this event – Mega Latias and Mega Latios.

Pokémon Air Adventure Event – What’s happening?
When does it start? The event starts on Tuesday, May 3rd at 10:00 AM and runs until May 8th at 8:00 PM.
What’s included? Mega Latias and Mega Latios are an important part of the event, they will make their debut at the event.
- If you catch Latias during the event, it will know the move Mist Ball
- In trainer battles 120 damage and a chance to lower the opponent’s attack
- In gym battles and raids 105 damage
- If you catch Latios during the event, it will know the move Photon Geyser
- In trainer battles 120 damage and a chance to lower the opponent’s defense
- In gym battles and raids 100 damage
New spawns: In the wild, you will encounter the following Pokémon (Monsters marked with a star* can be encountered as Shiny)
- Flying Pikachu*
- Jigglypuff*
- Meowth*
- Ducklett*
- Doduo*
- Magikarp*
- Wingull*
- Swablu*
- Drifloon*
- With luck Charizard* and Mantyke*
Timed Research: During the event, there will be Timed Research. For completing it, you will receive 50 Mega Energy for Latias and Latios, 3,000 XP, and an encounter with a Flying Pikachu.
Raids: In level 3 raids, you will encounter Charizard*, Lapras*, and Togekiss. In Mega Raids, you will encounter Mega Latias* and Mega Latios*.
Eggs: From the 7 km eggs that you receive during the event, Togepi*, Matirps, Emolga, and eF-eM can hatch.
Pokémon in Field Research: As rewards from Field Research, you will receive Flying Pikachu*, Doduo*, Swablu* or Emolga.
Bonus: During the event, eggs placed in incubators will hatch twice as fast.
That the legendary Mega Pokémon will become part of the game was leaked weeks ago. Back then, data miners showed that Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Latios, and Mega Latias will likely become a part of raids “soon.” The new Mega Kangaskhan was announced on April 29.
