The Pokémon World Championships are coming soon. In line with this, there is an event in Pokémon GO with exciting bonuses.
When is the event? The Pokémon GO event for the World Cup starts on Friday, August 16 at 10:00 AM. It will run until Tuesday, August 20 at 8:00 PM.
This means the event will actually last two days longer than the actual World Cup, which ends on August 18.
While the best players in the world compete for the title in Honolulu, all other players can look forward to interesting bonuses in the event.
What’s in the Pokémon GO World Cup Event?
There are some bonuses you can secure during the event. Three of these bonuses are particularly noteworthy.
1. World Cup Pikachu and Shiny Lin-Fu appear: This year’s costume Pikachu is in a diving suit and can be found in field research or in level 1 raids. You can see what the monster looks like in the title image.
Additionally, Lin-Fu will obtain its shiny form, which you can also catch during the event. It will also be in level 1 raids and field research.
2. Special moves and Frustration: A special bonus is that you can unlearn the move “Frustration” during the event. This is usually only possible during Rocket events. It’s worth it, as you can teach useful moves to your strong Shadow Pokémon.
Additionally, there are the following event moves:
When catching:
- Slurpuff knows Body Slam
- Lin-Fu knows Tower Kick
If you develop the following Pokémon:
- Morlord: Wet Tail
- Altaria: Moonforce
- Akkup: Volt Switch
- Fiaro: Incinerate
They are all interesting monsters with good moves for the battle league. You can find tips for the battle league here.
3. Battle Week: Under the motto “Heavenly Teamwork,” a so-called “Battle Week” will take place during the same period – but it will only last 5 days.
However, it is still worth it because:
- You will receive quadruple Stardust for wins in the battle league (only for single matches, not for finishing the battle sets)
- You can complete 20 battle sets per day, so 100 battles
- There will be a limited-time PvP research with rewards
