In a few days, Pokémon GO will launch a Shadow Jungle event, which has some highlights in store for you. We at MeinMMO have looked into which new Pokémon will be released and what special features you can look forward to.
What kind of event is this? The Shadow Jungle event will continue your journey through the Alola region. You will mainly encounter Grass-type Pokémon. In line with the Alola season, three new monsters from Generation 7 will also be released.
In addition to the new Pokémon, Niantic has more surprises in store for you. Here are all the highlights of the Shadow Jungle event at a glance (via pokemongolive.com):
- Imantis, Mantidea, and Kapu-Fala make their debut
- Shiny Waumboll is available for the first time
- Special spotlight weekend in parks
When does the Shadow Jungle event start? The Shadow Jungle event starts on March 22, 2022, at 10:00 AM local time. You will have a week to enjoy the event content, until it ends on March 29, 2022, at 8:00 PM local time.
The new Pokémon for the Shadow Jungle event
During the upcoming event, three new Pokémon will be in the spotlight: Imantis, Mantidea, and Kapu-Fala. Additionally, you’ll encounter Shiny Waumboll for the first time.
Imantis and Mantidea
For the Shadow Jungle event, Imantis and its evolution Mantidea will celebrate their debut in Pokémon GO. The two monsters belong to Generation 7 and are Grass-type Pokémon.
Imantis has a pink body with a reddish stripe on its belly and red eyes. Its arms resemble green leaves. It also has green decorations on its head and neck. Its evolution, Mantidea, has a large, slender body that is red and pink. The stripes on its legs and the large sickle-shaped arms are particularly eye-catching.
Kapu-Fala
Another new monster from the Alola region is Kapu-Fala. This legendary Pokémon hails from Akala Island and is its guardian. It belongs to the Psychic and Fairy types. Kapu-Fala has a slender black body with long pink hair.
On its belly and lower body, it has two pink shell halves adorned with pink and white ornaments. It also has a shell on its head, which it can close for protection, similar to Kapu-Riki.
Shiny-Waumboll
While you cannot catch Imantis, Mantidea, and Kapu-Fala as Shiny during the Shadow Jungle event, another Pokémon will celebrate its shiny debut: Waumboll. This Pokémon comes from Generation 5 and can evolve into Elfun.
During the event, you’ll find it in the wild, in raids, and in research tasks. Additionally, it will have its own mini-event in the form of a spotlight weekend. You will have plenty of opportunities to catch it in its shiny form, recognized by its white-yellow body and the orange adornments on the sides of its head.

As you know from other events in Pokémon GO, alongside the new Pokémon, there will also be numerous spawns that thematically fit the Shadow Jungle event. Below we have summarized all Pokémon that you can find in the wild and in raids during the event:

In the raids:

All features of the Shadow Jungle event
During the Shadow Jungle event, you can also expect a few features in the form of various research tasks. Additionally, there will be a spotlight weekend. Below we show you what to look forward to:

- A limited-time research about Grass-type Pokémon
- Reward: various items and event Pokémon as well as an encounter with Imantis
- Event quests featuring Raupy*, Owei*, Sonnkern*, Waumpel*, Samurzel*, Waumboll*, Kastadur*, Imantis, Paras*, Parasek
The spotlight weekend in parks
The Shadow Jungle event also brings you a mini-event: The spotlight weekend in parks. This event revolves around the Grass and Fairy-type Pokémon Waumboll.
This Pokémon will spawn more frequently in parks during the spotlight weekend. Additionally, it will celebrate its shiny debut during the Shadow Jungle event, giving you a chance to catch it in its shiny form with a bit of luck.
When does the spotlight weekend take place? The spotlight weekend starts on March 26, 2022, at 10:00 AM local time and runs until March 27, 2022, at 8:00 PM local time.
