When does the new event run? The replacement event will take place from Friday, August 21 at 8:00 AM local time to Wednesday, August 26 at 10:00 PM local time.
What’s included in the event? In the event, you will receive a new limited research task to complete. You need to finish it by August 26, otherwise the tasks will disappear.
The research includes the same rewards as the research for the Dragon Week. So there will also be 2 Kapuno, which can be Shiny with a bit of luck. However, the tasks will differ slightly.
All other bonuses from the Dragon Week will not be active. You will only benefit from the limited research.
What does this mean for you? There is no real event with special spawns here. However, you have another chance at 2 Kapuno, which are otherwise extremely rare.
You should definitely complete the research during this time. You probably won’t get such a good chance at Kapuno for a long time.
What trainers suspect: Some players suspect that there are other reasons for this replacement event besides the technical issues. During the Dragon Week, there was a lot of criticism towards Niantic, as Shiny Kapuno was extremely rare in the event. Even in eggs, it was hard to find a Kapuno, let alone a Shiny version.
