The developers of Pokémon GO announce it as “the fulfillment of a childhood dream.” Soon, you will be able to appear as a rival trainer in the game. Here’s how to participate.
If you have played the main series of Pokémon, you will remember the various rival trainers. You encountered them during your adventures on different routes, in forests, and also in caves. The developers of Pokémon GO want to offer you a similar experience soon.
The special thing about this is that these rival trainers will not be created randomly. They are intended to be representations of trainers and their Pokémon from the Pokémon GO community.
With a good outfit, an attack team, and a motto, you have the chance to be selected.
What can trainers do as opponents in Pokémon GO?
This is the idea: During the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto, you will encounter trainer characters on the map and can challenge them. This is also possible for players who do not purchase the ticket for €13.
A limited research task during the event rewards you for battling these trainer characters.
When does the event take place? The Kanto tour runs on February 21, 2021. You will encounter the first 150 Pokémon from the Kanto region in their shiny forms during the event. These 7 new shinies are part of the Kanto tour.
How to participate
If you want your trainer to become an opponent for all other players during the event, you can apply for this. But you will need to be creative.
On Twitter, you should write a tweet with the following information:
- You need a screenshot of your trainer profile showing your trainer name and desired outfit
- A list of 3 Pokémon from the Kanto region that will form your team (no Legendary, Mythical, or Ditto)
- You send the image and text with the 3 Pokémon using the hashtag #PokémonGOTourContest
How to win? The Pokémon GO team evaluates based on three points.
- Creativity of the outfit
- Overall motto
- Composition of the Pokémon team
Anyone wishing to participate should ideally offer something unique. This could be a cool motto on a theme. You can emphasize your team or entirely disregard that.
Your participation tweet must be sent by Tuesday, January 12, at 08:59 AM at the latest.
