In Pokémon GO there are finally details about the release of Mega-Pidgeot. The evolution is coming this week and will be incredibly strong.
When will Mega-Pidgeot be released? The special evolution was unlocked through the first Mega event in early August. It will now be released on September 18 at 10:00 PM German time.
It is the first new Mega evolution coming to the game after 4 Mega evolutions were released simultaneously in August.

These are the stats: First, let’s take a look at the stats of Mega-Pidgeot so that you can get a rough overview:

- Defense value: 175
- HP value: 195

Is Mega-Pidgeot worth it? With this Mega evolution, we get a new top Flying attacker! Generally, the selection of Flying attackers is quite modest, and Mega-Pidgeot has an easy path to land in first place.
It is the combination that makes Mega-Pidgeot so good. The attack value of 280 is not the best among all Flying attackers, but still among the top 5. Additionally, it has the perfect Flying attacks. Other Flying attackers usually have only one Flying attack or weaker moves of this type.
As a counter against the legendary Pokémon Virizion, Mega-Pidgeot ranks first. It inflicts the most damage by far and should ideally be used for a duo.
How can you get Mega-Pidgeot? This Mega evolution will be obtainable through raids. It works exactly like with Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise. You battle in Mega-Pidgeot raids and collect Mega energies. With these energies, you can then Mega evolve a Pidgeot.
How much energy Mega-Pidgeot needs is still unclear at the moment. However, it could very well be that it will be less than with the 3 starters.
Should you secure Mega-Pidgeot? Opinions differ on this. Of course, Mega-Pidgeot is incredibly strong and will be the best Flying attacker. However, the evolution only lasts for 4 hours, and you need to invest several raid passes to obtain the evolution.
We therefore recommend that you collect the Mega energy and only use it when you can effectively utilize Mega-Pidgeot. This would be sensible against Virizion, for example. If the legendary Pokémon returns to raids, you could then conduct several evolutions with the collected Mega energies.
Currently, there is a bug with Mega evolutions that makes them up to 145% stronger. If this also affects Mega-Pidgeot, you will have an even stronger monster in your inventory.
