Pokémon GO will soon bring Mega-Houndoom to raids! We will show you how strong the monster is and why trainers are not really excited about it.
When will Mega-Houndoom be released? The Pokémon will appear in Mega Raids starting September 29 at 10:00 PM. It will be the 6th Mega Pokémon that can be found in these raids.
Mega-Houndoom was unlocked because during the previous Mega Event, over 275 million Mega Evolutions battled in raids.
Mega-Houndoom in Pokémon GO – How strong will it be?
Here are the stats: First, let’s look at the stats of Mega-Houndoom, so you can get a rough idea of its strength:
- Attack: 289
- Defense: 194
- HP: 181
So how strong will Mega-Houndoom be? Among Fire attackers, there is a better alternative: Mega Charizard. Otherwise, Mega-Houndoom currently dominates Fire attackers and is a solid addition to your team.
However, Mega-Houndoom is even more interesting among Dark attackers. It is, by far, the best attacker of this type. If Mewtwo or other Psychic Pokémon come back to raids soon, you can dominate with Mega-Houndoom.
Is Mega-Houndoom worth it? You have to consider both sides here. Mega-Houndoom is quite strong, but is only available with a lot of effort and typically for just 4 hours.
So if the right raid boss is available and you want to do some raids anyway, you can effectively use Mega-Houndoom there. For just one raid per day, you do not necessarily need a Mega-Houndoom. But for a proper raid hour, it would be a good choice.
How do trainers feel about the Pokémon? The excitement is limited. Generally, the tensions are high between Niantic and the trainers regarding Mega Raids. Many players do not see the value in doing many raids to get the energy for a temporary evolution.
Gardwan writes on Reddit: “Alternatively, you can just use Zapdos/Heatran/Entei or another Fire Pokémon without worrying that it will disappear in a few hours.”
Some trainers, however, see other problems as well. ZekromFPS states: “So we currently have 6 Mega raid bosses at the same time. It’s just wrong.”
What do you think about the release of Mega-Houndoom? Will you do some raids with it?
Alternatively, you can also challenge 4 legendary Pokémon in raids in October. There is plenty of variety waiting for you.
