On September 21, 2021, the Fashion Week starts in Pokémon GO and brings you the new Pokémon Coiffwaff and other interesting bonuses and monsters. Furthermore, a new feature is expected: Form Changing. We at MeinMMO have looked into what it is all about and will show it to you.
What kind of event is this? As the name suggests, the Fashion Week is all about the appearance of Pokémon. For this reason, you can expect numerous costumed monsters at this event. But that’s not all, as the shapeshifting Pokémon Coiffwaff is making its debut in the game.
When does the Fashion Week take place? The event starts on September 21, 2021, at 10:00 AM local time and lasts exactly one week. You have until September 28, 2021, at 8:00 PM to catch the event-related Pokémon and take advantage of the bonuses.
These are the Pokémon for the Fashion Week
For the Fashion Week, you can look forward to numerous monsters. The focus will be mainly on the Pokémon Coiffwaff. It can be caught for the first time in its shaggy form in Pokémon GO. Additionally, it can take on other forms using the new feature “Form Changing.”
Moreover, it will be accompanied by other partially costumed Pokémon. We have summarized below where you can find which monsters:
In the Wild:
- Coiffwaff (shaggy form)
- Smettbo* (costumed)
- Elezeba* (costumed)
- Kirlia* (costumed)
- Glibunkel* (costumed)
In the Raids:
- Level-1 Raids: Sniebel* (costumed), Sheinux* (costumed)
- Level-3 Raids: Smettbo* (costumed), Kirlia* (costumed)
- Level-5 Raids: unchanged (Vesprit, Selfe, and Tobutz)
- Mega Raids: unchanged (Mega-Hundemon)
In the 7 km Eggs:
- Alola-Mauzi*
- Galar-Mauzi*
- Kussilla* (costumed)
- Sheinux* (costumed)
All Pokémon marked with a (*) can be caught in their shiny variant with a bit of luck.
Coiffwaff and the new feature “Form Changing”
The monster Coiffwaff is a so-called shapeshifting Pokémon from Generation 6. This means that in addition to its normal variant, the shaggy form, it can take on other forms by changing its appearance. This happens by changing the Pokémon’s haircut.
In the past, there were already other shapeshifters like Giratina available in Pokémon GO. However, you had to catch each different variant if you wanted them, and the monster could not really vary in its form in the game. This is now different with Coiffwaff.
As Niantic has announced, a new feature will be introduced with the Fashion Week event that now allows for form changing in the game (via pokemongolive.com). Thus, Coiffwaff can take its various forms, which are, however, only available regionally in some cases.

How the new feature “Form Changing” works
To change Coiffwaff into another form, you need to select a captured specimen in your Pokémon storage and click on “Change Form.” Then you can see the different cuts, as forms, of Coiffwaff and select one.
For the monster to take on the selected form, you need to spend 25 Coiffwaff candies and 10,000 Stardust. Whether Coiffwaff will then retain this form permanently or whether you can change it again is not yet known. If there is further information on this, you will learn it here on MeinMMO.
