In Pokémon GO there’s again a special Pikachu. Additionally, the team confirmed Celebi for worldwide special quests.
The 2nd birthday: This summer, Pokémon GO is already two years old. The developers are celebrating this with the mascot Pikachu, which appears this month with a special look. There are also new clothing items for trainers.
Niantic also confirmed what many leaks had already suggested: Celebi is coming to special research.
Birthday event in Pokémon GO
What does the event bring? Pikachu and Pichu will appear more frequently around the world. For one month, there will be summer Pikachu with a straw hat and sunglasses. Additionally, new avatar items in Pikachu style for your trainers will be available. Trainers with a golden Pikachu medal can purchase all Pikachu fan items.
How long does the event last? The event is expected to start on Friday, July 6. Until July 31, you will find Pikachu more frequently in the wild of Pokémon GO. Pichu is likely to have a higher chance of hatching from eggs.
What do the new Pikachu, Raichu, and Pichu look like? The data miner Chrales was able to extract the new graphics from the code and has shared them with the community. The following image gives a glimpse of the summer monsters.
Will there also be the Shiny form? The code contains the sprites for the Shiny forms of the Pikachu summer family. However, this is no guarantee that they will also appear in the wild. We will see in the coming days whether they exist in the wild or maybe even from eggs.
Celebi in special research
New mysterious Pokémon: Niantic explains that there will be “soon” new special researches worldwide about the mysterious Pokémon Celebi. Many trainers had already speculated about this. After initial leaks of the new special researches, it was initially unclear how Celebi would enter Pokémon GO.
Relation to GO-Fest: During the data mining, the new special quests for Celebi were already noticed. These apparently stand in direct connection with the GO Fest, which will take place in July.
How and when the release of the new special quests will take place is still unclear.
