On June 25, 2021, the announced surprise event will start in Pokémon GO. As Niantic has now announced, it will revolve around the Pokémon Bidoof. We have gathered all the information about the event, the new charged attacks, and the strength of the little monster here for you.
What kind of event is this? This event was announced by Niantic earlier this month as a surprise event. It has now been officially confirmed that there will be an outbreak of countless Bidoof during the event period. Thus, the event is dedicated to Bidoof, and everything revolves around this little monster (via pokemongolive.com).
When does it start? The Bidoof event takes place in the following period:
- Friday, June 25, 2021, at 10:00 AM local time until
- Thursday, July 1, 2021, at 8:00 PM local time
New Charged Attacks for the Bidoof Event in Pokémon GO
What can you expect for the Bidoof event? As you are used to from similar events in the past, a lot of Bidoof will spawn in the wild during the event period.
Additionally, you can also encounter the little monster in raids, Team Rocket battles, or field research rewards. Niantic has also announced that you can obtain it in its shiny form for the first time.
What new charged attacks will Bidoof get? In addition to the introduction of its shiny variant, Bidoof will learn new charged attacks during this time and will be temporarily catchable with them. These are normally not available for Bidoof and are thus event-specific. We have listed which event charged attacks will be available below:

On July 1, 2021, you can also teach your Bidoof these attacks using a Charged TM from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. After that, it is still possible with a Elite Charged TM. If you evolve a Bidoof into Bidoof during the event, it will receive the charged attack Hyper Beam.
Special Bonuses for the Bidoof Event in Pokémon GO
As Niantic has announced, there will again be some bonuses for trainers during this event (via pokemongolive.com). However, these will vary depending on the specific time. We have summarized what bonuses to expect during this event in Pokémon GO.

How strong will Bidoof and Bidoof’s be?
What kind of Pokémon are they? Bidoof is a Pokémon from Generation 4 and is of the Normal type. It learns the Quick Attack Tackle or Body Slam. For the charged attack, this Pokémon can usually learn Hyper Fang, Bite, or Rollout.
With 50 candies, you can evolve it into Bidoof. This Pokémon is also of the Normal and Water type and is from Generation 4. Its quick attacks are Aqua Tail or Body Slam. For its charged attack, it learns Hyper Fang, Hyper Beam, or Surf.
How strong are Bidoof and Bidoof’s: Both Bidoof and Bidoof’s are rather weak Pokémon. According to the overview from PvPoke.com, both have rather poor stats in terms of attack and defense (via pvpoke.com). As a result, they are also not able to hold up long against other Pokémon in PVP or Raids. For this reason, they are rather unsuitable for battling.
Furthermore, the new charged attacks that Bidoof can receive during the event only slightly strengthen this Pokémon in terms of PVP and Raids. Therefore, even with these attacks, it should not necessarily be used for battle. It is thus more suitable for completing the Pokédex and collecting shinies.
