A short video from Niantic was released on Twitter, featuring the cries of two Pokémon. Players have already identified them and hope that they will come to Pokémon GO in a new form. There is reason to hope due to an advertisement that has been aired.
Update 7:45 PM: We now know the two new forms and we will tell you here how strong Apex-Crypto-Lugia and Apex-Crypto-Ho-Oh are.
What is that video on Twitter about? The teaser revolves around the currently ongoing Season of Origins and is nearly 10 seconds long. In it, you see an animation of the Rocket boss Arlo. However, the screams in the background are even more exciting.
You can hear two Pokémon in succession, which players have identified as Ho-Oh and Lugia. Both seem to be held by Arlo and used for experiments. Everything indicates that players are supposed to save the two Pokémon.
What are players hoping for? Shadow Lugia and Shadow Ho-Oh were available to catch not too long ago. Just in June 2021, Giovanni had the two legendary Pokémon with him.
However, an advertisement for the new Johto tour gives players hope that a very special form of Lugia might come.
Is the “Gale of Darkness” Lugia coming?
What are players hoping for? Just on February 10, Niantic released a promotional clip that focused on the Pokémon GO Tour 2022. It takes place on February 26 and brings numerous bonuses and interesting Pokémon for 12 hours.
This clip shows a new version of Ho-Oh, though in a visually adapted form. In the background, Lugia is supposed to be recognizable in the shadows, also with a new look.
The Twitter user mariusmaruuSs assumes that the Lugia from Gale of Darkness is visible in the background. Gale of Darkness – or in German The Dark Gale – was a game for the Nintendo GameCube and the successor to Pokémon Colosseum. Both games differed slightly from the classic Pokémon series, as wild Pokémon could not be caught and the focus was on freeing Crypto-Pokémon.
Other users on Twitter and Reddit also assume that Crypto-Ho-Oh and Crypto-Lugia will be brought into the game in new forms. User Darkdeath174, however, has some doubts. He only sees a darker version of the two Pokémon:
We already know what Lugia will be because Ho-Oh has leaked through the advertisement. They are just Lugia and Ho-Oh with darker shadows like the background. They are even more Crypto.
Does everyone like the two Pokémon? No, there are also some voices that are a bit disappointed that Ho-Oh and Lugia are once again in focus as Pokémon. The Crypto versions were only available to catch in the summer of 2021.
The user Cybercummer writes via reddit: “Didn’t we just have Lugia and Ho-Oh as Cryptos? Zzz.”
What else is happening at the GO Tour: Johto? The GO Tour in February focuses on the Johto region. You will encounter many new Shinys, limited research tasks, and adjusted raid bosses. We have summarized everything about the GO Tour here:
