In Pokémon GO, there will be an additional raid hour on Friday. We at MeinMMO will tell you the reason for this short event, which monsters you can expect in the raids, and who can participate.
What is a raid hour? During the raid hour, Level 5 raids take place in almost all gyms for 60 minutes. This gives you the opportunity to complete several of them in succession. Normally, this short event occurs every Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM local time.
However, on Friday, June 10, there will be an additional raid hour in the form of a replacement event.
Why is there a replacement event? On June 1, 2022, the raid hour with Kyogre was supposed to take place as usual. However, there were massive issues in the game in some time zones. Many trainers could not interact properly with the gyms and received “network errors.”
Those who managed to join a raid complained about numerous bugs, making it impossible for everyone to catch the desired monster due to the game crashing.
After the server issues were resolved, Niantic already announced a replacement event for the affected players. Below, we have summarized all the information about the replacement event for you.
All information about the replacement raid hour with Kyogre
When does the replacement raid hour take place? The replacement event takes place on Friday, June 10, 2022. You will again have the opportunity to face the raid boss of the Level 5 raids between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM local time.
Who can participate in the replacement raid hour? As Pokémon GO announced on the evening of June 7 via Twitter, the replacement event will only be available to the affected time zones. Therefore, the time zones GMT +14 to GMT +2 experienced issues during the raid hour last week, which is why only these will be compensated.
As Germany is currently in the GMT +2 time zone due to daylight saving time, you can benefit from the repetition of the raid hour.
Is the replacement raid hour worth it?
Which raid boss will be there? Normally, you currently encounter the legendary ground Pokémon Groudon in the Level 5 raids. However, since this raid hour is a replacement event, you will again have the chance to encounter the legendary water Pokémon Kyogre during this time.

How strong is it? It can score points mainly with high attack, stamina, and defense values. With its moveset of Waterfall and Surf, Kyogre also deals significant damage to opponents. Thus, it is one of the best water attackers in Pokémon GO.
Is there a Shiny Kyogre? Yes, with a bit of luck, you can encounter a shiny version. You can recognize it by its purple body.
Players lost their raid passes, now demand free replacements
What do the trainers say about the replacement raid hour with Kyogre? In social networks, there was already a lot of criticism immediately after the server issues. And this has not changed after the announcement of the details regarding the upcoming raid hour on Friday.
In this regard, the wasted raid passes play a central role, but also the exclusion of other time zones from this event is a big topic for some trainers. For example, on reddit, you can find the following comments:
- Zekro: “Will we also get free raid passes?”.
- TheRealHankWolfman: “For some reason, they excluded us, although we had issues during our raid hour.”
- Matty8520: “I am in the GMT +2 time zone, but during the Kyogre raid hour, only one of the 30 invitations I sent had issues. So I assume that the problems were mostly resolved by then, and Niantic probably cited that as the reason. There may have still been issues until GMT +1, but honestly, Niantic should just hold a global raid hour.”
