In Pokémon GO you will encounter Alolan Exeggutor in the Research Breakthrough in April 2020. We tell you whether this Pokémon is worth it.
This is the Research Breakthrough: If you pick up your breakthrough starting April 1 at 10 PM German time, you will encounter Alolan Exeggutor. The Pokémon will appear if you have completed Field Research on seven different days beforehand.
Thus, it replaces Kastadur, which was previously obtainable in March’s breakthrough.
Research Breakthrough with Alolan Exeggutor – What You Need to Know
How good will Alolan Exeggutor be? Compared to legendary Pokémon, Alolan Exeggutor will not be incredibly strong. It is definitely not the best monster that has been available in a breakthrough so far.
However, it will be more relevant than Kastadur. Especially for beginners, Alolan Exeggutor could be interesting. It is a solid grass attacker that is quick to obtain. However, it is not among the best attackers of the Grass type.
What makes Alolan Exeggutor worthwhile: The special thing about Alolan Exeggutor is its shiny form. You can also receive it as a shiny Pokémon from the breakthrough.
So far, Alolan Exeggutor has been extremely rare in the wild, primarily found in raids. You can view the breakthrough as a free Alolan Exeggutor raid where you have the chance to get a shiny.
What else has Niantic announced? In addition to Alolan Exeggutor, there are a few more events in April. Every Tuesday, the Spotlight Hour will continue, and every Thursday the Bonus Hour. The Raid Hour will, however, remain suspended.
In April, you will also have a chance at Shadow Entei. The legendary Pokémon remains in the Special Research and there will be no new Special Research related to Team GO Rocket throughout April. You can find the best counters against Giovanni here.
No further events have been announced. It remains to be seen whether Niantic will follow up, as previously Research Breakthroughs and events were announced together for an entire month.
However, raids in April might be doable from home. Niantic has already made the corresponding announcement.
