In Pokémon GO there was recently a bug that affected your shiny chances in remote raids. Now Niantic wants to compensate you with a replacement event, but many trainers are not pleased. We at MeinMMO will tell you when the event takes place and why it is received poorly in the community.
Which raids are involved? Since the beginning of June, you can find the legendary lake trio in level 5 raids, but only in their respective regions. Vesprit, Tobutz, and Selfe are regional Pokémon.
While Vesprit dominates the raids here in Europe and can therefore be battled on-site, many trainers have completed remote raids for Tobutz and Selfe – hoping for a shiny specimen. But the shiny chances were relatively low, as the data collected by a Japanese website showed just a few days ago.
After the remote raids were recently downgraded, many players suspected a covert change by the developers. However, they promptly apologized on Twitter and stated that it was a bug. Now they have come forward again and you will be compensated for the issues with an event.
On Sunday there will be a replacement event with Selfe, Vesprit, and Tobutz
What kind of replacement event is that? As the developers announced on the evening of June 8, 2023, via their Twitter account, a special replacement event in the form of level 5 raids featuring the legendary Pokémon of the lake trio is set to take place this weekend.
This is what the developers say (via twitter.com): “Trainers, we apologize for the technical issues that occurred during the last encounters with Selfe, Vesprit, and Tobutz. To fix this, Selfe, Vesprit, and Tobutz will appear in 5-star raids in their respective regions on June 11 from 11 AM to 5 PM local time.”
When will the event take place? The raids with the lake trio will run on Sunday, June 11, 2023, from 11 AM to 5 PM local time. So you have 6 hours to encounter Vesprit raids more frequently in Germany.
Will there also be Selfe and Tobutz? The other two Pokémon of the lake trio will not be available in Germany. If you still want to catch them, you can do so via remote raid in their respective regions. You can encounter Tobutz in America and Greenland. Selfe, on the other hand, is active in the Asia-Pacific region. With a bit of luck, you might also catch it as a shiny this time.
Are there any additional bonuses? Yes, in addition to the numerous raids that will appear during the event period, the limit for remote raids has also been increased. From Saturday, June 10 at 12 PM local time to Sunday, June 11 at 11:59 PM local time, you can complete up to 15 remote raids per day.
Trainers who participated in remote raids of the lake trio from June 1 at 10 AM to June 6 at 5 AM German time will also have their remote raid passes replaced and will additionally receive another free remote raid pass as compensation.
Trainers disappointed: “That means fewer Crypto-Artktos raids”
However, the announced replacement event does not bring joy to every trainer. Many feel this compensation is simply insufficient or complain about the timing.
Criticism of the bonuses: Trainers particularly criticize the fact that the legendary monsters will also not be available in all regions during the special replacement event. Instead, shiny hunters have to rely on the expensive remote raid passes again. Additionally, trainers wished for an increased shiny chance as compensation (via reddit.com):
- GhostHarvester:
Raid day – yay; Still bound to their respective regions – not surprising, but phew.
- Sad_Raspberry_5981:
Not really a raid day. They don’t mention anything about increased shiny chances.
- Seeteuf3l:
I was pretty excited until I heard that they are available in their own regions.
Criticism of the timing: Another point of criticism is that the raids on the weekend coincide with the new crypto raids featuring Crypto-Artktos. The legendary monster will first be available in the special Team Rocket raids from Saturday but only on weekends.
For this reason, some trainers are concerned that there could be fewer crypto raids due to the replacement event, and they would miss out on opportunities for Crypto-Arktos. Additionally, Selfe, Vesprit, and Tobutz will still be available in raids until June 15, so from their perspective, there would have been plenty of time left to catch shinies. Comments like the following can be seen (via reddit.com):
- Fillain: “It’s nice that they are giving back the passes, but what is special about this event? That also means fewer Crypto-Arktos raids…”
- Pokefan317: “Yes, but we actually already planned to do Arktos raids on Sunday. The last of us got our Vesprit shiny on Wednesday, so we won’t even be doing Vesprit this weekend. So yeah, not a good thing!”
- SilverbackGorillaBoy: “Once you’ve gotten a lake spirit from each of them, you’re done. They’re useless and will never be useful. They’re still in raids for another week, more than enough time for people who want to hunt shinies to get them in quite a few raids. Most of us were looking forward to Crypto-Arktos day, and instead they’re pumping these trash Pokémon out all day to overshadow Arktos.”
But there are also trainers who don’t find it that bad. Crypto-Arktos will also still be available in raids on the upcoming weekends, so some want to seize their opportunity then.
What’s your opinion on the replacement event? Did you wish for additional bonuses? Or would you have preferred to focus more on Crypto-Arktos over the weekend? Let us know here at MeinMMO in the comments.
