The Christmas Event 2020 in Pokémon GO has been announced. We show you the bonuses, Shinies, and the start times of the event.
What kind of event is this? Every year at Christmas, the team from Pokémon GO organizes a special event for its trainers. During this time, there are more gifts, Pokémon are dressed up, and Botogel returns to the wild. For Christmas 2020, Niantic has come up with a winter event that will be active for more than a week. Additionally, a new Pokémon will be released.
Christmas Event 2020
When does it start? The Christmas Event 2020 runs from December 22 at 08:00 AM to December 31 at 10:00 PM local time.
What changes in the game? At Christmas, dressed up Pokémon must not be missing in Pokémon GO. During the event, Pikachu, Botogel, and Petznief will wear Christmas costumes and can also be found in the wild.
- Spawns: Ice-type Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild. This includes Seemops and Shnebedeck. Additionally, Gelatini will be published for the first time in Pokémon GO.
- 5-km-Eggs: Jurob, Quiekel, Kussilla, Schneppke, Shnebedeck, and Gelatini will hatch from 5-km eggs.
- Raids: Alola Sandan, Jugong, Rossana, Sniebel, Quiekel, Walraisa, Petznief, and Frigometri will appear in raids. If you’re lucky, you might even encounter Shiny Rossana.
What else is there? In addition to these changes, there will be special field research, winter avatar items, Christmas stickers for sending with gifts, event boxes in the shop, and special AR-mapping rewards. If you complete AR-mapping tasks, you’ll receive Mega Energy for Rexblisar and encounters with Schneppke.
The bonuses: The bonuses of this event affect gifts, experience points, candies, star pieces, lucky eggs, and stardust.
- Gifts: From December 22 at 08:00 AM until December 31 at 10:00 PM, you can open up to 45 gifts from your friends daily. So, find more friends for Pokémon GO to take full advantage of it!
- During the event, you can have up to 40 gifts at once in your inventory.
There are also additional bonuses that are limited to specific days:

Another Winter Event Coming
When? During the last weekend in December. From Saturday, 12/26 at 08:00 AM to Sunday, 12/27 at 10:00 PM local time.
What happens there? During this time, the Pokémon Regice will return to the raids.
There will also be special AR-mapping quests that reward you with incense and other items.
If you use incense during the event, Pokémon like Botogel, Schneppke, Shnebedeck, Frigometri, and Petznief will be attracted more frequently.
