In Pokémon GO the Limited Research event with Marill starts this weekend. However, trainers are not satisfied with the announcement. They are asking why Marill gets so many events.
What kind of event is this? In Pokémon GO, a Limited Research event starts on Sunday, May 9th. The water and fairy Pokémon Marill will be the focus during the event day. You can expect many exclusive tasks that will reward you with Marill encounters.

Limited Research with Marill – Start and Info
When does it start? The Limited Research with Marill starts on May 9th at 08:00 local time. You have until 22:00 to participate and complete the event quests.
What else is known: You will have the chance to encounter Shiny Marill again during the event. The shiny form has been available in Pokémon GO for a long time. There are also field research tasks that reward you with Marill encounters.
How did it go at other events? Limited Research events are a recurring format in Pokémon GO. The Pokémon participating in them change. There have been research events with Sniebel, Nidoran or Snubbull.
In past events, trainers were able to complete them easily from home, without having to leave their four walls. Until now, research tasks have always been divided into 3 quests per chapter, all rewarding you with the respective event Pokémon.
In PvE, that is in raids against raid bosses, Marill and its evolution Azumarill do not play a significant role. In PvP, however, it is a different story. In trainer battles, Marill leads the field in the Great League along with Galar-Option. They are the two strongest Pokémon you can use in the Great League.
Trainers show annoyed reactions, why?
This is what trainers say: Trainers say “Not another Marill event” or that they already own the entire shiny family and see no reason to participate in the event (via twitter.com). The biggest “problem” noted is the frequency of Marill events.
- On April 12th, 2020, the battle day with Marill started
- Some trainers had issues with bugs during the battle day
- Niantic explained how they want to compensate trainers and restarted the battle day on April 26th
- During the last Easter event, Marill was one of the spawns in the wild
- In the Spring event 2021, trainers found Marill more frequently in the wild
- On May 25th, a spotlight hour with Marill will take place

Others suspect that Niantic really wants to give every player the chance to collect strong Azumarill for the PvP league.
