In Pokémon GO, the Halloween event is slowly but surely around the corner. And it looks like you can work on another entry in your Pokédex there.
This was announced: On Twitter, the official Pokémon GO account posted a teaser, the text of which translates to: “We have heard reports of mysterious chants in the wild… What is going on?”, embellished with a ghost emoji and the hashtag “#PokemonGOHalloween.”
There is also an image of a Pokémon moving in the shadows, recognizable only as a silhouette. You can see the post here:
What Pokémon is this? The silhouette is quite distinctive: The monster is likely to be Galar Weezing, which has yet to appear in Pokémon GO.
The Pokémon fits quite well with a Halloween event: In the main games, it is described as the “Wizard Pokémon.” It is said to mumble eerie incantations and create strange potions by mixing its stomach contents with toxins. Additionally, it knows the move “Strange Mist” in Shield & Sword.
The tweet also points to Halloween. So it can be assumed that Galar Weezing will be part of the Halloween event in Pokémon GO, which starts on October 15 and runs until October 31.
Galar Weezing arrives late
While the Galar forms of Slowpoke and its evolution, Slowbro, have been in the game since the summer of 2021, Galar Weezing had to skip the event “A Very Slow Discovery.” Galar Weezing is now arriving a full four months later – but that somehow fits with the evolution of a Slowpoke.
The exact way in which Galar Weezing will be introduced to the game is not yet known. It is possible that it will be available as a raid boss or as part of a research task. However, it could also simply be obtained through an evolution.
Weezing is an alternative evolution of Slowpoke, which can be obtained instead of a Slowbro. To get Galar Slowbro, you need to use a Galar Slowpoke as your buddy and then catch 30 Poison-type Pokémon. Once that is done, you can evolve it with 50 candies.
It is conceivable that a similar variant will also be used for Galar Slowbro.
What happens at Halloween: It is already certain that you will encounter costumed Pokémon again at Halloween. There should also be a new special research that fits the Halloween theme.
