With the start of the anniversary event in Pokémon GO, you can secure 9 new field research tasks. We at MeinMMO have taken a look at what these tasks are, what rewards await you, and whether they are worth it.
What kind of research is this? In Pokémon GO, the anniversary event is currently being celebrated for the 6th birthday of Pokémon GO. On this occasion, Niantic has unlocked new field research tasks for you.
You will receive these by spinning the photo disc at PokéStops. Like with the field research from July 2022, the quests will be displayed in the “Field” view of the game, which you can access by clicking on the binoculars. There you can see what you need to do and can finally redeem your rewards at this point.
As you are used to from these tasks, you will have unlimited time to complete them again. So you can also finish them after the event ends.
How long does the anniversary event run? The anniversary event started on July 6, 2022, at 10:00 AM local time and runs until July 12, 2022, at 8:00 PM local time. You can find the event tasks at the PokéStops until then.

Are the new field researches worth it?
What should you keep in mind? The encounters with Pokémon consist in all cases of starter Pokémon. These usually appear relatively frequently in the game and can thus be found regularly.
However, some of these monsters have strong evolutions that you should not overlook. Additionally, you can often catch somewhat better specimens from field researches. However, behind the rewards are always three different monsters. Which one you get is random.
Which monsters are worth it? So if you are still looking for one or another candidate to use in raids or the GO Battle League, you should especially look out for the following monsters:
- Bulbasaur: Venusaur is one of the best grass attackers and it has a strong Mega evolution; it can also shine in the Great League
- Charmander: Charizard can shine with two Mega evolutions and is one of the 10 best fire attackers
- Chikorita: Bayleef can really score in the Great League
- Totodile: Feraligatr is one of the best water attackers in the game
- Torchic: Blaziken is one of the best fire and fighting attackers in Pokémon GO
- Mudkip: Swampert can impress as a strong water attacker, as well as in all three leagues of PvP battles
- Oshawott: Samurott is among the best water attackers in the game
