In Pokémon GO fabulous throws yield a lot of XP, but are difficult. However, there is a genius trick to throw them easily.
Why throw fabulously? The fabulous throw is the best type of Pokéball throw in Pokémon GO. It succeeds when the catch circle is already very small, and you throw the ball into the center.
It’s not easy, but it brings some bonuses:
- You get 1,000 XP for each fabulous throw. Especially when XP bonuses are active, it rises quickly.
- It’s more likely that the Pokémon will be caught rather than breaking free.
- Some tasks require fabulous throws from you, such as the current Masterball challenge, which requires 120 fabulous throws.
Now, a trick with the AR camera is going around that makes it easier to achieve fabulous throws.
Here’s how the trick with the AR camera works for the fabulous throw
This is the trick: User throwupandaway71 shared a trick on reddit to land fabulous throws more easily (via reddit). You use the AR+ feature of Pokémon GO to catch a monster.
What this looks like is shown in the following YouTube video by User Iram1:
The idea is to grab a close catch circle and let the ball drop into it. This makes light fabulous throws possible.
The steps look like this:
- Activate AR+ in Pokémon GO
- Click on a Pokémon
- Move towards one of the bushes that pop up in the game
- Make sure it is as centered as possible
- Hold the ball until the circle is small enough for the fabulous throw
- Let the ball fall into the circle
During testing, the following things were noticed when throwing:
- You have to
push
the ball upwards until you release it. Otherwise, the dropping doesn’t work, and the throw resets. - The Pokémon itself doesn’t necessarily appear after you click on the bush. But the catch circle while holding the ball reveals where you need to throw.
- If the catching attempt fails, the game might freeze. You would need to restart it.
If you are close enough to the catch circle of the Pokémon, with some practice you should be able to land fabulous throws faster. This way you can secure Pokémon and possibly progress faster in relevant tasks.
Especially when the XP bonuses for throws are active, this can really be worthwhile for leveling up. However, the currently very strong bonuses are only available for a short time.
