Pokémon GO has increased the item limit. With bag plus upgrades, your backpack can now grow even further. Is there a connection to Adventure Week?
Good news for trainers with inventory space issues: You can now expand your inventory to 2000 slots. Your supplies of Poké Balls, berries, potions, or special candies can thus grow even more.
More space for the upcoming event?
The limit of items in your bag has now been raised from 1500 to 2000. This pleases many players who were previously struggling with space issues. Those who spend coins now can fill up to 500 more slots.
Criticism is directed at the poor timing, since the battle event just ended. This rewarded trainers with more items when spinning the photo discs of gyms. More space here would have been a greater advantage.
Could the timing actually be well chosen? We know that in May, Adventure Week in Pokémon GO will start. Last year, as a reward, there were more items from PokéStops and discounts on Poké Balls. If there are also more items again this year from spinning the photo discs of PokéStops, more space in the bag would be an important innovation.
Notes in the in-game announcement: Normally, Niantic addresses Pokémon GO players as “trainers” in their announcements. In the announcement about the bag plus upgrades, it says “We know that even the most experienced adventurer can run out of space for their things.”
While the word “adventurer” may have been chosen without further implications, many trainers in the community see a connection with the upcoming Adventure Week.
Adventure Week has been confirmed by Niantic for this month (May). However, there are still no details about what bonuses it will entail.
