If you regularly take over Arenas in Pokémon GO, you may have noticed that some Pokémon are better suited for attacking than others. Just a few days ago, Niantic changed the CP values of many Pokémon. Due to the buffs and nerfs from these CP changes, there are now new Pokémon among the top Arena attackers. We show you the Pokémon best suited for taking over Arenas and which moves they should master.
Pokémon GO: The strongest Arena attackers
After the CP changes, research was done on which Pokémon are best suited as attackers for Arenas. This list from Gamepress shows which Pokémon were ranked the highest.
In the following list, we show you the Pokémon and their best moves from the different tiers.
Tier 1:
These Pokémon are a good choice to power up with Stardust. They are particularly strong Pokémon that have advantages against the usual Arena defenders.
Snorlax– Lick + Hyper Beam or Body Slam or
Zen Headbutt + Hyper Beam
Dragonite – Fire Breath + Dragon Claw
Vaporeon – Water Gun + Hydro Pump or Aqua Tail
Rhydon – Mud Slap + Stone Edge or Earthquake
Alakazam – Psychic Blade + Psychic
Tier 1.5:
These Pokémon are similarly strong as those from Tier 1. However, they have slightly more weaknesses, which is why they were downgraded to a half tier.
Gengar – Dark Claw + Sludge Bomb
Lapras – Ice Breath + Blizzard
Exeggutor – Zen Headbutt + Solar Beam
Gyarados – Bite + Hydro Pump or
Fire Breath + Hydro Pump or Dragon Pulse
Ampharos – Water Gun + Hydro Pump or
Stone Throw + Rock Slide
Tier 2:
With these Pokémon, you can specifically counter certain defenders. They are generally strong but cannot keep up with the top Pokémon from Tier 1 and Tier 1.5.
Swampert – Water Gun + Psychic
Golem – Mud Slap + Stone Edge or Earthquake
Venusaur – Razor Leaf + Solar Beam or Petal Blizzard
Tangela – Razor Leaf + Solar Beam
Starmie – Water Gun + Hydro Pump
Blastoise – Water Gun + Hydro Pump
Austos – Ice Breath + Ice Shard or Blizzard
Tier 3:
You should only use Stardust for these Pokémon if you can fill a specific gap and none of the Pokémon from the upper tiers are available.
