The maximum capacity for Pokémon and items in Pokémon GO is limited. This has now been increased again.
What is the maximum storage capacity? The maximum storage capacity indicates how many Pokémon and items you can store in your bags at most. You can increase the initial capacity, which is quite low, up to the maximum storage capacity.
For this, you need the Item Bag
to increase the item capacity and the item Pokémon Storage
to increase the Pokémon capacity. You can find these for 200 PokéCoins each in the shop and they will increase your capacity by 50 Pokémon or items.

What is the new maximum capacity? After the last increase of the maximum capacity in December 2023, the limits were at 7300 Pokémon and 6300 items. These have now been raised again by 500, so the new limits are 7800 Pokémon and 6800 items that you can store.
Who would benefit from such a high storage capacity? While these capacities are not reached or needed by most trainers, there are some trainers who will be pleased with the new increase. Especially for collectors who have what is called a Living Dex
, where they keep a specimen of each Pokémon, or for collectors of all variants and forms, this increase can be interesting.
Such an increase can also be interesting for trainers who set up many teams for raids and the various battle leagues. Whether to collect even more Pokémon or to store more items, or to restore injured Pokémon after battles.
