There is news about the top Pokémon of generation 5 in Pokémon GO. All attacks are now known, so one can be sure which Pokémon will change the meta.
What did Niantic add? Niantic has taken one of the last steps before the release of new Pokémon. They have added the attacks and additional data for the Pokémon.
The attacks are always crucial, as they ultimately determine whether a Pokémon is useful or not. It doesn’t matter if a Pokémon has great stats if the attacks are poor in the end.
Thanks to this addition, we now know which of the new Pokémon are actually top attackers. It is certain that many changes will occur among attackers due to this generation.
The big winners of generation 5
Meistagrif: Since the first generations, one Pokémon has been unreachable: Machomei. It has always been the best fighting Pokémon, but with Gen 5, it gets its replacement.
Meistagrif learns Counter and Dynamic Punch, making it the best fighting attacks possible. Meistagrif has better stats than Machomei, which is why a new top attacker of the fighting type is emerging.
Ramoth: The Bug and Fire type Pokémon gets really strong attacks in both types. It is the first Bug Pokémon that is actually useful, as Scyther and Pinsir do not have great stats.
This way, Ramoth learns both Bug Bite and Bug Buzz, as well as Flame Burst and Overheat. These are the optimal movesets for both types. Thus, Ramoth is the best Bug Pokémon and ranks highly among Fire Pokémon.
Black Kyurem: This legendary Pokémon casts almost everything in the shadow. It will be the best Dragon Pokémon in the game, as it learns the attacks Dragon Breath and Roar of Time.
Moreover, Kyurem has an attack value of 310, making it the best all-rounder in the game.
Zekrom: Here we have the big winner among Electric Pokémon. The legendary beast learns Charge Beam and Thunderbolt, outshining all other Electric Pokémon.
Additionally, it has an attack value of 275, easily surpassing Electivire and Raikou.
Demeteros (Therian Form): This legendary Pokémon will replace Groudon and become the best Ground attacker. It learns Mud Shot and Earth Power. Especially Earth Power is a very strong attack, but can currently only be learned by weak monsters.
Which Pokémon lose due to the attacks?
There are also some Pokémon that can only learn bad attacks, which is why they play no significant role. We show you the biggest losers:
Aeropteryx: Here, strong Rock attacks were hoped for, as this Pokémon has a very high attack value. However, Aeropteryx does not learn a quick Rock-type attack, which is why it cannot keep up with Tyranitar or Rhyperior. With this movepool, it is even quite useless.
Voltolos: Based solely on the stats, Voltolos could have become the best Electric attacker. However, it only learns Thunder and Volt Switch as charge attacks and not Thunderbolt. Thus, Voltolos is not bad, but will not be the top attacker.

You need an evolution item for this: A while ago, the Unova Stone was found in the game files. It is now clear what you need the item for. The following Pokémon can only evolve using this:
- Vegimak
- Grillmak
- Sodamak
- Somniam
- Picochilla
- Zapplalek
- Laternecto (Evolves into Skelabra and thus into a very strong Pokémon)
You need to save candies for this: In generation 5, there will also be a Pokémon that requires 400 candies for evolution. Ignivor only evolves into Ramoth if you use 400 candies.
What do all these findings mean? So far, they are only findings and not yet implemented in the game. The mentioned Pokémon will certainly not all come into the game at once, but it may still take some time.
Moreover, Niantic can still change something about the attacks. However, most of the attacks should remain, so we already have a good overview.
