The Pokémon GO Community Day in June features Larvitar as the exclusive Pokémon. Leaks have now revealed which special move can be learned.
During the Community Day in June, there will be another special move that can only be learned during the event period of Pokémon GO. Niantic actually wants to keep this move secret until just before the event starts. However, they might have failed this time. The Japanese and Chinese in-game announcements have already mentioned the Catapult move, which is likely to be learned by Tyranitar.
Community Day with Catapult in June?
Pokémon GO trainers received an in-game message in the past hours with news about the Community Day in June. It was explained in all languages that Larvitar is the special Pokémon for this event and what additional in-game bonuses there will be. However, the Japanese and Chinese announcements had even more information.
They stated that Tyranitar can learn the move Catapult during the Community Day.
Why does Niantic only write this in these languages? Apparently, there is a problem with the translations. It is assumed that Niantic sends two versions to the translators.
- One with rough information long before the event. Which monster, what bonuses, what date
- One with all the information, shortly before the event. This message then summarizes all the information for the trainers.
The text of the Chinese translation looks like this (Thanks to Reddit user cytb8)
In the square brackets in the first paragraph, it says (roughly translated): [Can learn a special attack] and [Can learn Catapult!]. So it seems that both versions were accidentally published in advance.
How strong is Catapult in Pokémon GO?
The Catapult move was found weeks ago in the data of Pokémon GO. So we know that it is a fast move. This would be the first Community Day to teach a Pokémon a fast move instead of a charged move.
With Catapult, Tyranitar could finally learn a moveset with two Rock-type attacks.
Many experts have already started analyzing how strong the monster would be with this new attack. Tyranitar with Catapult would be the strongest Rock-type attacker in Pokémon GO – stronger than Golem and Rhyperior!
Now we just have to wait and see if the leak turns out to be “correct”.
