Recently, the big Johto Tour took place in Pokémon GO. Now Niantic is asking the community for their feedback. We at MeinMMO have looked at what the trainers have answered the developers.
What kind of event is it? On February 26, 2022, the big Pokémon GO Tour: Johto took place for the trainers. This event focused entirely on the Pokémon of the Johto region for a full 12 hours. During this time, you could find all the monsters of the 2nd generation in their shimmering forms in the game for the first time.
This included not only new Shinies, such as those from Phanpy, Remoraid, and Mantax, but also the two regional Pokémon Shuckle and Corasonn, which could be caught during the event in raids.
Now Niantic wants to have feedback on the Johto Tour from the community and receives clear words back from the trainers. We will show you what problems the players criticize.
3 Problems that Trainers Point Out to Niantic
Niantic’s survey came at the right time for many trainers, as the list of problems has become quite long. For this reason, some Reddit users are already taking the opportunity to express their dissatisfaction to Niantic. Their focus is on the following 3 problems:
1. The Shiny Rates
One of the most common points of criticism is the Shiny rate. Many trainers criticize that the Shinies newly released by Niantic for the Johto Tour were difficult to obtain. Especially with Corasonn, some are annoyed.
The regional Pokémon also celebrated its shimmering debut that day, which is why it was very sought after. However, it could only be caught in raids, for which corresponding raid passes are required to participate.
However, the chance for a Shiny was not adjusted, which is why many players had to purchase additional paid raid passes. But other Shinies were also reported to be very rarely found according to some players.
What are the Chances? As for the exact Shiny rate for the respective Pokémon, Niantic has not officially revealed this yet. Therefore, there are only surveys conducted by parts of the community, such as The Silph Road. According to this, the current chance of finding a shiny specimen for most Pokémon is about 1:500 (via thesilphroad.com).
Regarding the Shiny rates during the Johto Tour, some comments can be found on Reddit (via reddit.com):
- Thetof91: “They released a Shiny for the event and it was then globally in raids. People expect that the chance for it to be Shiny is increased only on that day. So 1/20, 1/64, or 1/128. But it was the full chance of 1/512. So many people did raids that day, myself included, because they thought it could be a Shiny.”
- geoffh2016: “Considering that people want Shinies at paid events, it makes no sense that the probability is not like at Community Days at 1/20 or at least about 1/30.”
- gazzas89: “I told them very rudely that if they incorporate regional Pokémon into raids, they should actually increase the Shiny chances and not set them at 1 to 250; that was disgusting. And that they should announce the Shiny rates for it in advance, as it borders on loot boxes, so don’t increase it and make people spend a lot of money on raid passes.”
- Rorywan: “I told them that the raids with Corasonn are the worst and most dubious thing Niantic has ever done.”
- VozMicke: “Tell them that you want Shiny rates.”
I also tried my luck for a shiny Corasonn. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out, but I had special Shiny luck during the Johto Tour.
2. The Johto Tour was Stressful
Another point of criticism from some trainers was the flow of the Johto Tour. This took place on a single day, resulting in many contents piling up, and it became too much for some players. Thus, some Reddit users felt the event was stressful and overloaded and wished for a division of the event content (via reddit.com):
- shadraig: “This is a community matter, and the community should be asked what they want from the tour and what they do not. Packing everything into one day was terrible.”
- saturnianali8r: “I forgot to put in new eggs until 1/4 of the event was over because I was too focused on the collection challenges, the monsters from incense, and the special research.”
- tomasdez: “Fun Kanto [event] and stressful Johto.”
3. The Communication with the Community
However, not only the Shinies and the event itself are a strong point of criticism for many trainers. For a long time, various issues have existed in Pokémon GO that the community has expressed repeatedly on social networks. This includes various bugs as well as adjustments in the game, such as the incense changes.
So far, however, little to nothing has been done in these areas, which is why some Reddit users have taken the survey to draw attention to these grievances and the lack of communication from Niantic (via reddit.com).
- saturnianali8r: “In the end, there is a question of what would motivate one to buy an event ticket. I said that the game should improve and pay attention to what the players say. People who are dissatisfied with the game (e.g., months-long bugs, PokéStops/Pokémon assets not loading after a service outage, incense, etc.) do not want to spend money on the game. This intensifies when Niantic does not seem to listen to the community.”
- jayt247: “I told them that I enjoyed the event, but I would not buy any further paid tickets unless they reverses the incense. In my responses that didn’t include a feedback option, I indicated that I enjoyed the event but was very dissatisfied with Niantic.”
- sebimeyer: “I will give them feedback, but it’s obvious they don’t care, so I don’t have high hopes that they’ll actually listen to us. I was honestly surprised that they even asked. They seem to have no interest in really listening to us, so why continue this charade? It’s unnecessarily frustrating and condescending, and yet they keep going. I really do not understand it and do not care about the ‘why,’ I just want my GAME to be fun.”
