The Arena rework of Pokémon GO is now live and lets you try out new features like motivation and unique defenders.
Almost on time at 10:00 PM German time, the Pokémon GO arenas reopened on June 22, 2017. They had previously been disabled for the rework, and trainers found the message “Arenas under construction.” in the game.
Now the update is available for every trainer, and the developers are opening up the revised arenas for testing. Look forward to Pokémon motivation, unique defenders, and more new features in the arenas.
Pokémon GO – Arenas active
At a typical time, developer Niantic opened the battlefields of Pokémon GO for the trainers. Many events in Pokémon GO start around 10:00 PM our time, and the arena opening aligned with this time and even opened 15 minutes earlier. A few days ago, the Pokémon GO team announced major changes in the biggest update of Pokémon GO.
This update is supposed to significantly change the arenas in Pokémon GO, as the combat system was not well received by players and developers. Boring gameplay and few features were the main criticisms. Due to the rework, many things have now changed.
- Raid battles (Raids): – This feature will be activated later in the game – Fight together with a group of up to 20 players against a powerful raid boss. Before a raid starts, you will be notified in the game that a raid is about to take place. Above the affected arena, you will find an egg with a countdown. Travel to the corresponding arena and defeat the boss to receive rewards.
- Arena badges: If you interact with an arena, you will receive a badge from this battle site. It comes in bronze, silver, and gold – depending on how active you are in this arena.
- Arena items: You can now spin the photo disc of an arena to receive items like you would at a PokéStop.
- Unique defenders: Each arena now only accommodates one Pokémon of a specific species – no more arenas filled with Snorlax.
- This is how you earn coins: Your Pokémon will bring you coins from an arena when they come home. The longer a Pokémon has been in an arena, the more coins it can bring home. The daily limit is 50 coins. In our Pokémon GO Coins Guide, we show you how to collect coins.
