The desired arena overhaul could be implemented soon. The trainers of the Pokémon GO community are speculating on a specific day this week.
Arena battles are an important feature in Pokémon GO. There, you can let your monsters battle against defenders and also earn PokéCoins. Niantic has already explained in the past that the current concept of the arena does not meet the developers’ expectations and announced a revamp of the arena.
Could this revamp happen this week? At least many trainers in the community believe so. A few data and events from the last months suggest a specific day this week. But: This is speculation!
The new arena – This week?
There are supposed to be three major updates for the augmented reality game Pokémon GO in 2017. John Hanke confirmed this during the Mobile World Conference. Now, many trainers are wondering whether Niantic is conducting these major releases according to a specific schedule. They could, for example, orient themselves to the intervals of the releases and announcements in the past months. If that is the case, we could expect a major announcement in the coming days.
Users on Reddit are speculating based on the following arguments:
- The first major update this year was the release of the monsters from the 2nd generation. The update with the new Pokémon was released on February 16. Tomorrow, Tuesday, marks three months since this announcement.
- February 16 was also roughly the middle of the first quarter. For the current quarter, the days around May 18 would be considered the middle.
- February 16 was a Thursday – May 18 is also a Thursday.
- As we all know, Niantic has also used Thursdays (or Fridays due to time shifts) for other announcements to launch new features or events. The Egg Festival started on Thursday, April 13, at 1 PM PDT. The Global Bloom was announced on Thursday, May 4.
- In the last app update, there were many hints that something in the arena system could change soon: Patch 0.63.1 Data-Mining with raids and feeding Pokémon
These arguments are the reason why members of the Pokémon GO community suspect that there will be a major event on Thursday, May 18. Keep in mind that this assumption is highly speculative and does not provide any guarantee for an arena update. We will have to wait and see whether and what Niantic announces in the coming days.
The Plant Event was a contest between the teams – The winner is announced!
