In Pokémon GO you can finally earn a second Master Ball. But a task from the special research is not well received by many trainers. Is Niantic asking too much of you?
How do you get the Master Ball? Since September 1, 2023, you have a chance to unlock a second Master Ball in Pokémon GO. This is linked to a Timed Research with one chapter and many different challenges.
One of them sparks many discussions.
60 Raids for the Master Ball
What does the task involve? You need to catch 1,000 Pokémon, hatch 30 eggs, complete 150 field research tasks, and earn 100,000 Stardust, among other things. Another task is “Win 60 Raids.” Many trainers are particularly upset about this. We show you the overview of all tasks for the Timed Research “Master Ball” here. You have until November 21 at 8:00 PM to complete the tasks.
For players who regularly participate in local raids or also enjoy remote raids, 60 Raids may not be that much. But for trainers who live far from gyms and do not want to spend money on remote raid passes, it’s a task that will hold them back for a long time. Thus, obtaining the second Master Ball will be delayed even further.
Reddit user targaryen0125 asked the community if the task is not simply “insane” (via Reddit.com). The answer with the most upvotes comes from user Efram. It says:
This is probably the [task] that will block me. I don’t often have the time to run to the next gym to do a raid, and I surely won’t buy 60 remote passes.
But considering the other tasks… that doesn’t seem unreasonable or unfair. Honestly, I’m surprised at how well I’m doing with the fabulous throws.
Other trainers give tips and explain that you can simply complete the level 1 raids alone. Because the difficulty level of the battles does not matter for completing the task.
