What kind of special research is this? By paying €8.99, you can now tackle this quest series in Pokémon GO. In the process, you will encounter Genesect, a mysterious Pokémon making its first appearance in the game.

All steps for the Genesect special research
There are a total of 5 stages that require you to complete different tasks. You will need to catch 25 Pokémon of a specific type per stage.
Stage 1/5
- Battle 5x against another trainer
- Reward: 1000 Stardust
- Catch 25 Normal-type Pokémon
- Reward: 3 Rare Candies
- Give your buddy a snack
- Reward: Encounter with a Unratütox
Reward at the end of the stage: 5 Raid Passes, encounter with a Pinsir, Genesect cap for your avatar
This is how Trainer battles work: It is enough to participate in the PvP league against other players. You can also lose. The outcome of the battle is not decisive. If you want to win, check out the best Pokémon for the Super League.
Stage 2/5
- Use 5x a power-up
- Reward: 1000 Stardust
- Catch 25 Fire-type Pokémon
- Reward: 3 Rare Candies
- Send 3 gifts to friends
- Reward: Encounter with a Laukaps
Reward at the end of the stage: 3 Charge TMs, encounter with a Panzaeron, 3 Super Incubators

- Send 3 Pokémon
- Reward: 1000 Stardust
- Catch 25 Water-type Pokémon
- Reward: 3 Rare Candies
- Hatch an egg
- Reward: Encounter with a Schnuthelm
Reward at the end of the stage: 3x Incense, encounter with a Sichlor, Genesect backpack for your avatar
How to hatch eggs from home? Due to the coronavirus, it is advisable not to go outside. Therefore, hatching eggs can be more challenging. It’s best to leave your phone open or go to areas with poor GPS reception. Then your avatar will walk around a bit, and you can hatch an egg.
Alternatively, you can also exercise at home while having Adventure Sync turned on. Activities like running up and down stairs or using a treadmill can easily earn you kilometers and help hatch eggs.
Stage 4/5
- Land 3 Great Throws in a row
- Reward: 1000 Stardust
- Catch 25 Electric-type Pokémon
- Reward: 3 Rare Candies
- Play with your buddy
- Reward: Encounter with a Kabuto
Reward at the end of the stage: 3 Fast TMs, encounter with Genesect, 1x Glacial Module, that works particularly well.
Is Genesect already here? Yes, you can encounter Genesect as early as the second to last stage. You just need to continue the research if you want more candies from the Pokémon.
How to play with your buddy? To do this, you need to use the buddy feature. When you are on the screen where you can feed and take pictures of your buddy, you can also just swipe across the screen and pet your buddy. That counts as playing.
Stage 5/5
- Battle three times against a team leader
- Reward: 1000 Stardust
- Catch 25 Ice-type Pokémon
- Reward: 3 Rare Candies
- Land 3 snapshots of Genesect
- Reward: Encounter with a Fermicula
Reward at the end of the stage: 1x Knursp, 10x Genesect Candies, 3 Lucky Eggs
