What are Spotlight Hours? Every Tuesday evening, an event of this kind takes place. From 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM local time, a specific Pokémon will be the focus. You will encounter it almost everywhere in the wild during this time. Such an event is accompanied by a bonus that affects the experience points, Stardust or candy received.

Below we will discuss each Spotlight Hour in detail and show you the bonuses and whether they are worth it.
Spotlight Hour on May 3
Which Pokémon? The first Spotlight Hour in May focuses on Wingull from the third generation. It is a Water and Flying type and can evolve into Pelipper.
What bonuses do you get? For catching Pokémon during the event, you will receive double the amount of candy. This also counts for Pokémon aside from Wingull (such as raid bosses).
Who is this worth it for? Wingull itself is not particularly strong and can be safely ignored for raids, gyms, and trainer battles. Its evolution Pelipper performs well in the Super League and Ultra League, but is not useful in raids. Additionally, the candy bonus is worthwhile if you participate in raids during the event.
Can you catch Shiny Wingull? Yes, you can find and catch Shiny Wingull in Pokémon GO.
Spotlight Hour on May 10
Which Pokémon? The second Spotlight Hour in May brings encounters with Camaub. This Pokémon is from the third generation and is a Fire and Ground type. It can evolve into Camerupt.
What bonuses do you get? For transferring Pokémon, you will receive double the amount of candy. This applies to all Pokémon you transfer.
Who is this worth it for? Neither Camaub nor Camerupt are particularly strong attackers. Use this event mainly for the transfer bonus to efficiently clean up your collection.
Can you catch Shiny Camaub? No, Shiny Camaub is not yet available in Pokémon GO.
Spotlight Hour on May 17
Which Pokémon? The third Spotlight Hour in May features the Pokémon Magikarp, known from the first generation. It is a Water type and can evolve into Gyarados.
What bonuses do you get? For evolving Pokémon, you will receive double the amount of experience points.
Who is this worth it for? Magikarp itself is to be ignored as an attacker. However, collecting this Pokémon is worthwhile since Gyarados is a strong attacker in raids. Additionally, Gyarados can collect many points in PvP in the Ultra League and Master League. Therefore, this event is definitely valuable for you to fill your collection with strong attackers.
Can you catch Shiny Magikarp? Yes, you can find and catch Shiny Magikarp in Pokémon GO.
Spotlight Hour on May 24
Which Pokémon? The fourth Spotlight Hour in May brings encounters with Jurob from the first generation. It is a Water type and can evolve into Dewgong.
What bonuses do you get? For catching Pokémon, you will receive double the amount of Stardust. This applies to all Pokémon you catch during the event period.
Who is this worth it for? Jurob is not a particularly strong attacker. Its evolution Dewgong performs well in the Super League during trainer battles and can rack up some points there. Otherwise, it is rather uninteresting. However, the Stardust bonus during the event is worthwhile.
Can you catch Shiny Jurob? Yes, shiny Jurob are already unlocked in Pokémon GO.
Spotlight Hour on May 31
Which Pokémon? The fifth Spotlight Hour in May 2022 at Pokémon GO brings you the Pokémon Peppeck. It comes from the 7th generation and is a Normal and Flying type. It can evolve into Trumbeak and Toucannon.
What bonuses do you get? For catching Pokémon, you will receive double the amount of experience points.
Who is this worth it for? Peppeck and its evolutions are not particularly interesting. They do not play a remarkable role in raids or trainer battles.
Can you catch Shiny Peppeck? No, the shiny version of the Pokémon has not yet been released in Pokémon GO.
