In February 2025, there will once again be some Spotlight Hours in Pokémon GO. We have summarized for you which ones they are and what to expect.
What kind of event is this? The Spotlight Hour is a 60-minute event that takes place every Tuesday. During this time, there is at least one Pokémon that is the center of attention and spawns almost everywhere in the game.
Additionally, there is a bonus related to the Pokémon that is active during the event. This can be a bonus on candies, stardust, or experience points.

Spotlight Hour on February 4, 2025
Which Pokémon is in the foreground? On February 4, 2025, you can expect Kanivanha during the Spotlight Hour. This Pokémon originates from Generation 3, has the types Water and Dark, and evolves into Tohaido.
What bonus is active? In this Spotlight Hour, you can expect double the amount of experience points when you evolve Pokémon.
Is the event worth it? Kanivanha and its evolution are not strong Pokémon that you should use in raids or the battle league. There are much better monsters you should rely on for this.
If you currently plan to evolve some Pokémon and are collecting experience points, you could use the event to snag some extra experience points.
Can you catch Shiny Kanivanha? Yes, with a bit of luck, you can also encounter the Shiny variant of Kanivanha.
Spotlight Hour on February 11, 2025
Which Pokémon is in the foreground? Shortly before Valentine’s Day, Pokémon GO brings Liebiskus back to you during the Spotlight Hour. This monster originates from Generation 3 and is of the Water type.
What bonus is active? If you catch Pokémon during this Spotlight Hour, you will receive double the amount of stardust. It doesn’t matter which Pokémon you catch: The bonus applies to every catch.
Is the event worth it? Liebiskus is not a Pokémon that you should take into raids or the battle league. It is too weak to perform well here.
You can use the stardust bonus to collect an additional amount of stardust within the 60 minutes and refresh your supply a bit. By using stardust items, you can further increase the amount.
Can you catch Shiny Liebiskus? Yes, you can also find and catch Liebiskus as a Shiny.
Spotlight Hour on February 18, 2025
Which Pokémon is in the foreground? On February 18, 2025, Iscalar awaits you during the Spotlight Hour. This monster has been around since Generation 6. It has the types Dark and Psychic and can evolve into Calamanero.
What bonus is active? If you catch Pokémon, you will receive double experience points during the Spotlight Hour. This bonus applies to all monsters you catch.
Is the event worth it? Iscalar’s evolution, Calamanero, is not very suitable for use in raids and is not among the best attackers in Pokémon GO.
In the battle league, it is a bit different. Here, Calamanero can place itself in the upper midfield in both the Super League and the Hyper League and can be used effectively.
Can you catch Shiny Iscalar? Yes. If you are lucky, you can also encounter the Shiny form of Iscalar during the event.
Spotlight Hour on February 25, 2025
Which Pokémon is in the foreground? In this Spotlight Hour, 3 Pokémon are waiting for you: Serpifeu, Floink, and Ottaro. These are the 3 starter Pokémon from Generation 5.
What bonus is active? During this Spotlight Hour, you will receive double the amount of candies for catching Pokémon. Again, it doesn’t matter which monster you catch: The effect applies to every Pokémon you catch within the 60 minutes.
Is the event worth it? The 3 Pokémon in this Spotlight Hour all have their own areas where they can shine.
Serpiroyal, the final evolution of Serpifeu, can be found in the midfield of the best monsters in the Super League and can certainly be used here. However, you should use a Charged TM to teach Serpiroyal the exclusive move Flora Statue.
The final evolution of Floink, Flambirex, is a strong Fire attacker and can be used as such in raids.
If you evolve Ottaro into Zwottronin and then to Admurai, you will not only get a strong Water attacker for raids but also a solid Pokémon for the Super League. For both use cases, you should teach the Pokémon the exclusive Charged move Aquahaubitze.
Can you catch the Pokémon as Shiny? Yes, all 3 Pokémon from the Spotlight Hour can, if you are lucky, be caught as Shiny.
