What is a Spotlight Hour? A Spotlight Hour is a 60-minute event that takes place every Tuesday. During this time, you can expect at least one Pokémon to appear in very high numbers, as well as a bonus.
The Spotlight Hour on April 1, 2025, is special. It features the same monsters you can catch that have been appearing throughout the day as part of the April 1 event.

Spotlight Hour on April 8, 2025
Which Pokémon is in the spotlight? On April 8, 2025, Meditie will be featured in the Spotlight Hour. This monster is from the 3rd generation and has the types Fighting and Psychic. It can evolve into Meditalis.
What bonus is active? On this day during the Spotlight Hour, you’ll receive a bonus for transferring Pokémon. You’ll earn 2 candies for every monster you send to the Professor.
Is the event worth it? Meditie and its evolution are not among the strongest monsters available in Pokémon GO. However, you can utilize Meditalis in the Super League. While it’s not one of the best monsters in the league, it can perform an acceptable role.
If you have some Pokémon in your box that still need candies, you should take advantage of the bonus during the Spotlight Hour. You can also pre-mark a Pokémon a day in advance to send them more quickly during the event.
Can you catch Shiny Meditie? Yes, with a bit of luck, you might also encounter the Shiny variant of Meditie.
Spotlight Hour on April 15, 2025
Which Pokémon is in the spotlight? The Grass Pokémon Imantis is featured in the Spotlight Hour on April 15, 2025. It is from the 7th generation and can evolve into Mantidea.
What bonus is active? If you evolve Pokémon during the Spotlight Hour, you will receive double experience points for this. It doesn’t matter which monster you evolve.
Is the event worth it? If you plan to use Mantidea for battles, you should reconsider this intention. The Pokémon is not suitable for either Raids or battles in the leagues.
If you’re collecting experience points and have Pokémon waiting to be evolved, you can use the event for this purpose.
Can you catch Shiny Imantis? Yes, you can also obtain this monster in its shiny form.
Spotlight Hour on April 22, 2025
Which Pokémon is in the spotlight? Bubungus, the Grass Fairy monster from the 7th generation, is the star of the Spotlight Hour on April 22, 2025. It has a development stage in Lamellux.
What bonus is active? If you catch monsters during this Spotlight Hour, you will receive double the amount of Stardust. The bonus applies to each individual Pokémon you catch.
Is the event worth it? From a battle perspective, Bubungus and its evolution are not suitable for shinning in Raids or the leagues.
However, if you want to improve your Stardust supply, you can take good advantage of the event. Bubungus is among the Pokémon that gives you more Stardust when caught – a whopping 500 per catch.
With the bonus from the Spotlight Hour, you will actually receive 1,000 Stardust for each Bubungus. If you also use Star Pieces here, you can even receive 1,500 Stardust per catch.
Can you catch Shiny Bubungus? Yes. If you’re lucky, you can also catch Bubungus as a Shiny.
Spotlight Hour on April 29, 2025
Which Pokémon is in the spotlight? In the last Spotlight Hour of April, Abra awaits you. This Psychic monster is from the 1st generation and can evolve into Kadabra and then into Simsala.
What bonus is active? The amount of experience points you receive from catching Pokémon is doubled during this event.
Is the event worth it? Even after all the years that Abra has been in the game, its final evolution is still among the best attackers in Pokémon GO. Simsala also has a Mega Evolution that makes the monster even stronger.
You should keep Abra and its evolutions in their Poké Balls for the battle leagues.
Additionally, you can gain some extra experience points from the event bonus if you catch a lot of Pokémon. If you use Lucky Eggs, you can further increase the amount.
Can you catch Shiny Abra? Yes, you can also encounter the Shiny form of Abra with some luck.
