What is happening in Pokémon GO? Today, on July 17th, the big summer event has started. A limited research and some bonuses have also begun.
The event runs until July 22nd at 10:00 PM local time. Until then, you can make the most of the big summer event.
In this overview, we will show you what has changed in the game for you. New bosses are waiting in the gyms, the quests have rotated, and there are exciting Pokémon to catch in the wild.
New raid bosses at the summer festival
Which bosses are new? In the gyms around you, you may have noticed some differences. In the following table, you will find all the raid bosses currently in the game.

Shinies and new species – What is new in July?
New Shinies: In the wild, you can now encounter Shiny Knofensa if you’re lucky. Niantic announced this dazzling Pokémon of the types Grass and Poison weeks ago, and first trainers have already been able to catch it since July 17th.
If you catch a Shiny Knofensa and evolve it into Ultrigaria or Sarzenia, these evolutions will also be shiny. In the following graphic, we show you the shiny family.
New species: The Pokémon Lilminip is of the Grass type and belongs to the 5th generation. It is the first evolution stage of Dressella. You can now find it for the first time in the game.
New researches for the summer event
What new researches are there? At the stops, you can now receive special new tasks that fit the summer event when spinning the photo disks. In addition to other quests, you now also receive the following tasks:
- Catch 3 Pokémon of Grass type
- Reward: Encounter with Knofensa
- Catch 6 Pokémon of Grass type
- Reward: Encounter with Lilminip
- Catch 3 Pokémon of Water type
- Reward: Encounter with Muschas
- Catch 6 Pokémon of Water type
- Reward: Encounter with Perlu
- Give your buddy a snack
- Reward: Encounter with Bummelz
- Play with your buddy
- Reward: 500x Stardust
