In Pokémon GO there are already a number of legendary and mysterious Pokémon. We look at the Pokémon world and reveal which legendary and mysterious monsters are still waiting for us.
Here’s the status of legendary Pokémon: Currently, there are 35 legendary Pokémon from generations 1 to 5. However, in the upcoming generations 6 to 8, there are still numerous other legendary monsters.
Here’s the status of the mysterious Pokémon: These monsters were often introduced through EX Raids or special research. Currently, we have 9 mysterious Pokémon from generations 1-5 and with Meltan and Melmetal, even two from Gen 7.
Especially here, some Pokémon are still missing. Even from the 4th generation, not all mysterious Pokémon have been released yet.
All Missing Legendary Pokémon

What stands out here? Especially the 7th generation has quite a few legendary Pokémon. You can look forward to a lot of releases here.
The 7th generation also introduced the first legendary Pokémon that can evolve. Type: Null evolves into Amigento, and the Pokémon Cosmog, Cosmovum, Solgaleo, and Lunala are also a family that can evolve.
When will the Pokémon come into play? So far, Niantic has been following a schedule of one generation per year. The first Pokémon from Gen 6 have also been briefly shown and may come as soon as this fall.
If it continues like this, we should have all current generations represented in Pokémon GO by 2022.
All Missing Mysterious Pokémon
Here’s the list: For the mysterious Pokémon, there are 13 monsters that cannot yet be found in Pokémon GO. These include:
- Manaphy of Water type (4th Generation)
- Phione of Water type (4th Generation)
- Shaymin of Grass type and in one form additionally of Flying type (4th Generation)
- Arceus of Normal type, but can assume any of the 18 types (4th Generation)
- Keldeo of Water and Fighting type (5th Generation)
- Meloetta of Normal type and depending on the form additionally of Fighting or Psychic type (5th Generation)
- Diancie of Rock and Fairy type (6th Generation)
- Hoopa of Psychic and Ghost type (6th Generation)
- Volcanion of Fire and Water type (6th Generation)
- Magearna of Fairy and Steel type (7th Generation)
- Marshadow of Fighting and Ghost type (7th Generation)
- Zeraora of Electric type (7th Generation)
- Zarude of Dark and Grass type (8th Generation)
What stands out here? Although we have already been able to catch the first mysterious Pokémon of the 5th generation with Victini and Genesect , there are still 4 mysterious Pokémon from the 4th generation that are not yet in the game.
Many of the mysterious Pokémon have attack combinations that are not yet available in the game. These include Volcanion of Fire and Water type and Marshadow of Fighting and Ghost type.
When will the Pokémon come into play? Here, you may have to wait longer than with the legendary Pokémon. Mysterious Pokémon often come into play through special research, and these are only available every few months in Pokémon GO.
One of the mysterious Pokémon would be a good candidate for upcoming EX Raids, provided Niantic brings these special raids back after they were temporarily suspended due to the Corona crisis.
