What is it about? For Pokémon GO, developer Niantic has now announced how events will look in May. In the overview, we show you all spotlight hours, raid hours, and other events like Illuminating Legends X and Y. The latter will bring Xerneas and Yveltal into the game.

Which events are particularly worth it in May 2021?
Illuminating Legends Y: During the event, you will encounter Xerneas in Pokémon GO for the very first time. Fairy and Dragon-type Pokémon will spawn more frequently in the wild. Together, the goal is to catch as many Pokémon as possible. If 500 million Fairy Pokémon are caught, Pam-Pam will appear.
The event for Illuminating Legends Y is worth it just to catch Xerneas and the 4 new Pokémon from Gen 6.
Illuminating Legends X: The X event brings the new legendary Pokémon Yveltal to Pokémon GO. Additionally, Dark-type Pokémon appear more frequently in the wild. In this event, you can also unlock special bonuses that will be active from the second event week onwards.
Both events with the illuminating legends are also worthwhile for players who are still working on Step 2 of the special research with Mew. Because for that, you need to catch certain types of Pokémon. Since Dragons are relatively rare in the wild, it’s a good opportunity.
Spotlight Hours: Especially the events with Dratini and Marill are worth it for you. On May 11, Dratini is in the spotlight, and you will receive double candies for sending Pokémon. On May 25, you will meet Marill in the spotlight hour and receive double Stardust for catching Pokémon.
Trainers expect many catches for their medals and more help for the Mew research from the hours with Dratini. For Marill, the double Stardust for catches and the chance for strong PvP attackers are particularly appealing.
