Pokémon GO has provided a detailed overview of all events in February 2021. We show you the spotlight hours, legendary Pokémon, and the research breakthrough.
This is what happened: Niantic has given us an accurate overview of the events in the coming month. There will be spotlight hours and changing raid bosses again. Additionally, Niantic distributes a gift every week.
To ensure you know exactly what is happening, we provide you with an overview of all announcements.
Research Breakthrough in February 2021
What is included in the research breakthrough? From February 1st at 10:00 PM, you will receive Snorlax in the research breakthrough. You can obtain the normal-type Pokémon until March 1st at 10:00 PM.
The research breakthrough is available when you complete field research for 7 days.
Is Snorlax worth it? The Pokémon is a solid gym defender, and a strong specimen is never a bad thing. After the Kanto Tour at the end of February, the Pokémon will also be available as shiny. So you might also receive it as shiny from the breakthrough in the last days of February.
All Legendary Pokémon in February 2021
This is the list: This month, a total of 8 legendary Pokémon will be available. We will show you who is waiting for you:
- You will encounter Entei in level 5 raids until January 31st at 10:00 AM
- Raikou appears from January 31st at 10:00 AM and stays until February 4th at 10:00 AM
- Then Suicune will follow in the legendary raids and will be available until February 9th at 10:00 AM
- From February 9th, Latias and Latios will be in level 5 raids. They will remain in the raids until February 20th at 9:00 AM
- Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Mewtwo will then appear in the legendary raids from February 20th at 9:00 AM until March 1st at 8:00 AM
Additionally, Niantic gives a preview of the mega Pokémon that will appear in February. From February 9th, there will be a surprising monster – so we might expect a new mega evolution.
This is surprising: It was previously assumed that Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Mewtwo would only be available in raids during the Kanto Tour weekend. However, they actually stay in the legendary raids for over a week, giving you a better chance to catch the coveted shinies.
All Spotlight Hours in February 2021
These are the events: This month there will again be a spotlight hour every Tuesday. Each will have a corresponding bonus. Here is the overview:
- February 2: Rattata will be the exclusive Pokémon here, and you will get double XP for evolving Pokémon
- February 9: Miltank will appear more frequently in the wild, and there is double stardust for caught Pokémon
- February 16: Luvdisc will appear more frequently, and you will receive double XP for catching Pokémon

Especially interesting is the spotlight hour with Miltank. The Pokémon was only introduced with the Johto event at the end of January and may still be missing for some trainers.
It is still not known whether the Pikachu during the spotlight hour will wear a special hat. It could also be the normal Pikachu.
