With the start of the Shadow Jungle event, a new Special Research for the island of Akala is unlocked in Pokémon GO. We at MeinMMO have looked at all the tasks and rewards for you and summarized them.
What kind of research is it about? Currently, the Alola season is running in Pokémon GO, which will focus on the Alola region. As announced by Niantic, there will be a total of four Special Research tasks for the different Alola islands during this season.
If you complete all of these tasks in time before the end of the season, an additional research task will be unlocked for you. The following research tasks will be available:
- Special Research for the island of Mele-Mele (available since March 1)
- Special Research for the island of Akala (available from March 22 at 10 AM local time)
- Special Research for the island of Ula-Ula (available from April 12)
- Special Research for the island of Boni (available from May 10)
- Special Research at the end of the season (available from May 25)
After the island of Mele-Mele has already been featured in Pokémon GO in recent weeks, you can now find the Special Research for the island of Akala with the start of the Shadow Jungle event. The following overview shows you all the contents of the research (via leekduck.com):

Stage Reward: Once you have completed all three tasks, you will additionally receive 1,000 XP, 1,000 Stardust, and a Premium Raid Pass.

Stage Reward: Once you have completed all three tasks, you will additionally receive 8,000 XP, 3,000 Stardust, and 15 Ultra Balls.
As you are used to from other Special Research tasks, you have unlimited time to complete the tasks. However, it is worth using the upcoming weeks if you want to secure the additional research at the end of the season.
You can alternatively purchase this in-game for about €5 at the appropriate time. Starting April 12, 2022, the next Special Research for the Alola island Ula-Ula will be available to you.
