A new raid hour starts this evening in Pokémon GO unexpectedly. We provide you with all the information about the start time, the Pokémon, and the process.
What is a raid hour? In this event, a legendary raid spawns for one hour at all gyms that are not currently running a raid or have triggered an EX-raid.
The raids last for an hour, and you can battle them during that time. After the hour is over, the event is over again.
All information about the raid hour in July
When does it start? This evening, on July 24, at 6 PM, the raid hour takes place. It will run until 7 PM. This will be the second consecutive raid hour with Mewtwo.
Which Pokémon are available? The current legendary raid boss Mewtwo will also be available during the event. It will be wearing its armor and will have the same stats as always.
Where does the information come from? On one hand, Niantic left a push notification on some devices reminding players about the raid hour this evening.

On the other hand, players from New Zealand have reported about the event. It was already 6 PM there, and the raid hour had already taken place.
What is important when battling Mewtwo? The Pokémon is of Psychic type. So use good counters of Ghost, Dark, and Bug types. This includes characters like the Origin Forme of Giratina, Gengar, or Tyranitar.
Mewtwo can already be defeated with 3 players. However, this might be quite tight. To ensure you can complete many raids, we recommend a team of 5-6 players. This way, you are not reliant on a large group but still have enough players.
Will there be such an hour every Wednesday now? Niantic has not said anything about that yet. However, there may not be a raid hour next Wednesday, as Mewtwo will leave the raids again. At 6 PM local time, Mewtwo may be found in some places and not in others. This could lead to issues.
