In Pokémon GO you can find 6 new collector challenges in time for the start of the crossover event. We at MeinMMO have looked at which Pokémon you need to collect to solve them, what you should keep in mind, and what rewards await you.
What kind of challenges are these? In Pokémon GO from today, June 16, 2022, the crossover event is taking place. This is being held due to the collaboration between Pokémon GO and the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
In addition to numerous spawns and bonuses, you can expect a total of nine different collector challenges during the event, which will vary in difficulty.
The first 6 collector challenges will already be available to you when the event starts, the remaining 3 tasks will follow on June 23. You can find them all in the “Today” view of the game until the end of the event, and you will have the corresponding time to complete them.
Which monsters you need to collect to solve these challenges are summarized for you below.
When does the crossover event take place? The event surrounding the Trading Card Game runs from June 16, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. local time to June 30, 2022, at 8:00 p.m. local time.
Here are the 6 new collector challenges
The reason for the collaboration between Pokémon GO and the Trading Card Game is a special expansion of the trading cards in the typical Pokémon GO design. This theme will be picked up in the collector challenges on the occasion of the crossover event.
Thus, these tasks will contain Pokémon that will also exist as trading cards in the future. They are divided into six different areas that will mainly focus on the starter Pokémon of the first generation and their expansions.

Crossover event with Trading Card Game: Bulbasaur collector challenge 1
The following Pokémon you need to collect by catching them:
- Bulbasaur
- Spinarak
- Krabby
- Dratini
- Pikachu with event hat
Reward: If you find all the monsters of this challenge, you will receive 1,000 XP and a meeting with Venusaur.
Crossover event with Trading Card Game: Charmander collector challenge 1
The following Pokémon you need to collect by catching them:
- Charmander
- Numel
- Magikarp
- Alolan Rattata
- Pikachu with event hat
Reward: If you find all the monsters of this challenge, you will receive 1,000 XP and a meeting with Charizard.
Crossover event with Trading Card Game: Squirtle collector challenge 1
The following Pokémon you need to collect by catching them:
- Squirtle
- Bidoof
- Slowpoke
- Eevee
- Pikachu with event hat
Reward: If you find all the monsters of this challenge, you will receive 1,000 XP and a meeting with Blastoise.
Crossover event with Trading Card Game: Trade collector challenge
The following Pokémon you need to collect:
- Pikachu*
- Bulbasaur*
- Charmander*
- Squirtle*
Reward: If you find all the monsters of this challenge, you will receive 3,000 XP and a Lure Module.
Attention: In contrast to the other challenges, to complete this task, you do not need to catch the listed Pokémon, but trade them with a friend in the game.
You can recognize which monsters you need to trade by the corresponding symbol in the challenge overview. Therefore, all listed Pokémon must be traded for this task.
Crossover event with Trading Card Game: Kanto collector challenge
The following Pokémon you need to collect by catching them:
- Ivysaur
- Charmeleon
- Wartortle
- Venusaur
- Charizard
- Blastoise
Reward: If you find all the monsters of this challenge, you will receive 5,000 XP and an Egg Incubator.
Crossover event with Trading Card Game: Advanced collector challenge
The following Pokémon you need to collect:
- Venusaur*
- Charizard*
- Blastoise*
- Snorlax
- Slaking
- Dragonite
Reward: If you find all the monsters of this challenge, you will receive 10,000 XP and a meeting with Meltan.
Attention: To complete this task, you only need to catch part of the listed Pokémon. Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise have a corresponding trading symbol in the challenge overview, which means you need to trade them with a friend in the game.
How to find the monsters to complete the challenges
As Niantic has already announced, the tasks vary in difficulty (via pokemongolive.com). Just like in the Trading Card Game, some monsters will be easier to find in the game and others will present a little challenge.
We have looked into where you can find the respective Pokémon to complete the tasks quickly.
Wild spawns: Most of the Pokémon you are looking for should be found easily in the wild. The following monsters are expected to be relatively common there:
- Bulbasaur
- Ivysaur
- Charmander
- Charmeleon
- Squirtle
- Wartortle
- Alolan Rattata
- Pikachu with event hat
- Slowpoke
- Magikarp
- Eevee
- Spinarak
- Dratini
- Numel
- Bidoof
- Krabby
Finding Snorlax, Slaking, and Dragonite: If you get lucky, you can also encounter these three Pokémon in the wild. They are expected to spawn there, but are a little harder to catch. To ensure you don’t search in vain, you can also find Snorlax, Slaking, and Dragonite in Level 3 Raids.
And they also hide in the Field Research for the crossover event. Look for the task “Catch 40 Pokémon”. But be careful: which of the 3 Pokémon you get from the reward remains a matter of chance. You will need a bit of luck to get the missing specimen.
The safest way would therefore be to complete Raids. If you don’t find any nearby, you can also be invited to a remote raid by friends.
How to get Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise: You can easily obtain these three evolutions by completing the collector challenges surrounding Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. They hide in the rewards there.
If that doesn’t work for you, you can obtain them through the event field research “Catch 25 Pokémon”. Just like with Snorlax, Slaking, and Dragonite, it will also be a matter of chance which of the monsters you get. Alternatively, you can also rely on the corresponding Mega Raids, where you can catch the respective Pokémon afterwards.
